i like to think of it as Two Finger Panning... Because are not limited to the confines of 1 directional scrolling... Personally I think you have to give him props for being as stupid as he was... i mean WOW... i still think we should make an xkcd comic out of it!

it's a reference to the TV show Lost... The Season 4 Premiere was last night so The tumblr guys thought it cool to add a little easter egg. Lost is all about subliminal hints and mysterious things.

My Setup:
1 iPhone, 1 MacBook, 1 External 20" Display (I'm in the market for a nice laptop-like keyboard, preferably cheap (if anyone has any recommendations, that would be great (I can't believe I'm embedding parentheticals)))

With regard to the iPhone, I really see it as a communication device (voice, email, calendar, address book, & quick interfaces to important info; for instance, maps, todoist, et cetera). That "real" internet stevey j. was talking about is quite a ways off, the iphone needs to have a unique web interface to truly be effective.

Instead of talking about my current setup, I'm going to try to describe my ideal setup (with more emphasis on workflow, rather than data-access). I say this because I know for a fact that are a crapload of holes in the whole single-laptop setup for my workflow, plus I'm always willing to try new things (that's what she said).

One of the things that I think really matters, is the operating system. In my opinion, which is far from humble, (os x || linux) && laptop is really amazing. Windows on the other hand, I find lacks certain inherent methods of navigation. there are a lot more, but the things that really speed up my flow are expose, spaces, spotlight/quicksilver. I know vista comes with that new search thingy in the start menu, but how many people use it for launching or searching files (this is an honest question, i have yet to see anyone really using it)?

So going back to the ideal setup. I'd say it would be very similar to what phil mentioned, pc+gadget. However, the fact that osx is not really prevalent in labs and society in general, i really need to have access to a full-fledged mac everywhere i go, which I is why i don't like leaving it at home. I have recently started storing more of my data online, or at least syncing it so i have quick access in case im unablet to access my laptop.

There was more I was going to say, but I've been writing this on and off for about 2 days, so I keep forgetting where I left off. I'll be more succinct next time =P

that's a dock skin... the original dock looks whitish as if it were blurry glass (http://flickr.com/photos/do...... mine makes the dock basically look transparent... so the files kinda just float and reflect off the bottom... its cool looking.

as a followup to that i actually noticed some quirky behaviour... when i click the bookmartlet, it seems reversed in its functionality.. the checkbox is initially checked, and only when i uncheck it does it "reveal"... i tried it in firefox 3 b3 to the same result... is it just me?

Yeh I love disqus... I had to go into the custom html to make it fit my template but even then the integration is amazing. I have a friend who knows the founder of it and he tells me they're working on making it even easier to integrate. yay for that too!

well um, i was just joking about the name technoping (like snooping)... that was pretty much the extent of my relating it to "shady". But I'm glad you misconstrued what I said and wrote that reply because that's a nice justification for anyone that might think it's "cheating" so to speak (I'm already up to speed with the way technorati works so I think this is a great tool!).

I completely agree (says the guy who pretty much followed the crowd on this one). Nonetheless, I actually went searching for a cartoon of this and as I expected it was all over the place. This is pretty much why I (and I know you as well) stopped reading Digg. These people don't belong on our internet, they should find their own where they can spread their own propaganda.

I used iGoogle for a long ass time, but realized early this year that I was using it as a very restrictive feed reader. So I migrated over to Google Reader, which turned out to be a much better portal for getting my tech and other news. I get my mail notifications and other related stuffs via other means (growl with google notifier and mac os x's dashboard)

sorry man i'm already too famous... but if you want i can link to your website from mine... that would probably quadruple your traffic, which would result in you having to buy new hosting to make up for the extra daily bandwidth, subsequently leaving you bankrupt with a lot of webspace... so i guess for your own good i'll just do nothing... or maybe U CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGER instead?
