There has been no indication up until now that the Coin delivery promise would change; the situation is a surprise to the majority of Coin's early supporters. And now that the situation is changing, Coin is not communicating clearly and straightforwardly about why. That approach impacts trust.

Since @MonikaMcMahon has indicated a method to request a refund (which was not indicated in Coin's email about the change in the delivery schedule), I will submit my refund request to help@onlycoin.com and bring control back to my decision when to acquire Coin in the future.

Sal.

Re: October 2012 Strategic Humor - Harvard Business Review

"Firstly, I would like to introduce myself..."

Re: Before You Send That Angry E-mail

E-mail or email? I'd like to contribute a concept also.

Many people highlight text while reading and the ebook readers support that functionality well. We can say that the collected text that's been highlighted is a person's interpretation of the book since they have interest in (or somehow connect with) the text that's been highlighted.

It would be very useful (and very "social") if the highlighted text could be shared as a person is reading a book so that "friends" could comment and contribute to the reading experience. In that way book reading could become a semi-interactive experience (something like pair programming although not as real-time). There are a lot of opportunities to expand on this social approach to reading a book, such as by providing context for the highlighted text by showing, say, the paragraph (or page) before and after the highlighted text (if requested).

Friends might want to read just the highlighted text (the interpretation) to determine if the book is interesting. Or, friends who have already read the book might want to read the highlighted text as a way of re-reading or experiencing a different interpretation.

...and the ideas keep coming. I'm looking forward to experiencing the revolution in book reading that is likely to develop in the next few years.

Regards,

Sal.
---
Salvatore Saieva

Re: Sony Dash

I've been using the Slim Devices (http://www.slimdevices.com, acquired by Logitech) products for several years, maybe over 10 years at this point. My email communications have become more expressive, my business communications more professional and analytical, and I allocate time to write. I feel that social media unintentionally fosters that type intellectual development when it's viewed in the right way.

I have found personal value from using social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, blogging, etc). Passing thoughts, which in the past I may have mentally acknowledged and sometimes forgotten about, are more meaningful and take-on more significance when transferred into written words; Twitter is a great format for this situation. My experience using Facebook is similar, however, I am tending to be more personal in my writing there because I'm connected to friends and family.

My Twitter timelines and Facebook newsfeeds are also a historical record and sometimes I like to review/re-read what happened in the past. Although I have "friends" and "followers" I have a somewhat introverted and personal experience from using these tools.

Re: Sports and Cards Analogies

We recently coordinated a large scale infrastructure project moving production critical systems to another datacenter. Although PayPal allows you to setup a credit card to execute transactions, it is not their default; PayPal prefers that you transact with their service against a bank account as a debit card service. Since I would rather use Amex, PayPal becomes another (unnecessary) layer. PayPal doesn't support or stand behind my transaction the way that Amex does.

Re: Default Behavior and the Internet Operating System

Getting to "default" is fortified by trust.
