I didn't look that in depth with it though, so it could still be plausible.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Civil War idea seems pretty logical as well, though by the looks of things, it seems as though it were a combination of problems happening to the business before the Smith's decided to close hotel...financial reasons, property destruction (due to the lightning strike), Charles' death, etc.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Trent, was the hotel completely destroyed, or did you find anything left standing?
