Applications must ask for implicit permission to access your data, and you have to OPT-IN (notice those permission windows that come up?). You can usually still play your game or install your app without giving these permissions. Knowledge is power.

Re: QuitFacebookDay.com

How is this difficult? Because it's a chart? Why not pull up the privacy page and LOOK AT IT. It's actually pretty simple to understand.

Re: Are You Planning on Quitting Facebook? Facebook isn't sharing anything with other sites with the "Like" button.

Everything you talked about can be turned off in 30 secs from the privacy options.

Re: Report says Facebook growth down sharply

This is horrible reporting by Danny Sullivan. I agree, Myspace is on the decline. A very large part of my social graph is currently on Facebook. 3 out of my 4 family members are on Facebook, both of my wife's parents are on Facebook, my Aunts, cousins, etc.

Facebook is doing a better job of recreating the social graph. As they do this, engagement rises, daily active users rises, and ultimately -- page views. Myspace can claim to have 150 million users, but if they don't have page views, they can't sell ads. If they can't sell ads, I guess they will have to get revenue from somewhere -- the developers perhaps?
