The penultimate paragraph is particularly ugly. Officer Liang accidentally shot someone. Officer Pantaleo was engaged in a wrestling match with a giant man resisting arrest. Race has nothing to do with the outcome.

The only person responsible for Garner's death is Garner.

As a neighbor, I was delighted when Maury Rubin took over the place, as I was certain he'd preserve its charm and integrity. He did not disappoint me or his neighbors. Although the fare was not to my taste, I always looked forward to a hot chocolate on my way home.

Tastes change I hope those who take over the place share Mr. Rubin's nuanced understanding of the word neighborhood.

God bless him. But while the treatment may have cost your cousin nothing, my wife and I, our family and friends, are paying for it with an increased premium, higher co-pays, fewer benefits and increased prescription drug costs. That's how insurance works. I don't begrudge the man, and delighted with the outcome, but do wish Medicare-for-All, or Universal Health Care, was more than a promise.
