Looks like the guys at Appcelerator removed some old downloads or something. They have a great Ruby integration for building Ruby apps in xcode, so no need to an external script in that case; you can just include the script code as part of your app.

Re: Brierwood Design

Yeah, you can certainly create an actual app and include a bundle etc., but this was intended to be the super-fast non-xcode way to do it--- admittedly a bit hackish (or a lot), but it works. So for a quick and dirty job, I think its OK. Certainly you can't ship this as a product solution.

Re: Brierwood Design: Using Paperclip with Test Fixtures

Typically, you would create a rake file in ${RAILS_ROOT)/lib/tasks such "paperclip.rake". Then you can insert the code into that file and run the rake command from the RAILS_ROOT directory.

Re: Brierwood Design: No Really, Why a Coop?

Are you in Canada and/or Ontario? To address these, co-operatives often have internal capital accounts which you build-up as you work there. Since the co-operative may have real value in terms of assets and cash, this is used to track your portion of that value. Internal capital accounts can be setup in a variety of manners and forms.

Re: Brierwood Design: My Multi-Computer Setup (on the cheap)

We looked at Freshbooks and even tried it out. It seemed pretty good but we ended up going a different route. In the end, we were very happy mostly because of some Co-op and, for me, this very nice Mac desktop widget for time tracking with Harvest. I'm going to check out Spanning Sync. However, the contact and calendar syncing has a broader context since we would like to tied it into our company collaborative environment which means looking at CRM solutions and maybe starting with Google Calendar again.

As for Basecamp... well, we're not sold. We're using it and it works, but it is definitely not ideal. We actually preferred Remember the Milk for task lists and it had some nice features like recurring events, tags, and integrations for the iPhone and Desktop. However, Basecamp has some other nice features, most of which we're not using. I haven't tried Pivotal Tracker, but I'll check it out. Thanks.

Glad to head things are progressing for you in Vancouver. Sorry I missed your going away party.

Re: Brierwood Design: Tetris Part II -- A Titanium Fan-boy is Born

Thanks... glad it brought some cheer somewhere. A classic like Tetris never dies. Funny, that version was originally a fun experiment to write an entire SVG javascript client using LISP macros. Now it serves as a nice test piece when trying out new technologies, because in the end you actually have something engaging to show. We intend to build some real applications using this type of desktop technology very soon :)

Re: Brierwood Design: My Multi-Computer Setup (on the cheap)

I'm not sure where the kudos belong. I'm behind on my follow-up post, but the existing code using OCaml GNU Scientific Library bindings which is a completely stateful API.
