I'm just coming off of 6 years at a brick-and-mortar/online retailer myself and not everyone in the organization embraced digital and/or engagement across the whole of the business.

I did manage to get a CRM system installed that helped me build some nice engagement campaigns. For example, if someone purchased a junior hockey skate online, they didn't have the benefit of getting fitted in a store, so we'd send along a helpful video demonstrating a proper fit (and a few links to some skate accessories). We also built a local Youth Hockey Tournament directory, to your point/idea about REI's "camping site review" platform.

But you're spot on - many niche retailers either don't get it or they see the upfront cost and immediately shake their head no (in my case, it was both). There is definitely a gap in retail that needs to covered, but most of these small retailers are bootstrapped. It's a tough hill to climb. Excellent piece, thanks for posting it.

Re: http://stylman.tumblr.com/post/421891204

Oh, what a life a mess can be

Re: AVC People

Jeff Copetas -- @rustedrobot

Re: Clearing Something Up

Hey Fred, I didn't know you don't have arms!

Re: ID, Please

test
