Is this to be "the most useful possible meeting point" or "the actual meeting point that people use"? The bottom of the ramp was a thing that people tended to use when I were a young'un, whether it was far away from anything else or not.

I am nevertheless almost certain (I can't test it out, given that I don't actually have any friends to meet with) that "inside (insert X pub here)" is probably the most common meeting point for those older than their mid-teens.

Just making sure that what I've tried to work out contextually is true - do I take it that "chugger" refers to one of those clipboard-wielding folks who are supposedly soliciting charity donations?

Meanwhile, I love the Londonese stand-on-the-right-on-an-escalator thing and I would like to see it adopted everywhere. It's one of the best things about London if you ask me. I'm not trying to save time (my time is not at all precious), I just always feel like such a dickhead being carried up the stairs as though I'm pretending that my legs don't work.

I've only ever been up the staircase in question once (far as I recall), so I wouldn't know about that.

Economics are very simply and very obviously not the same thing as either or both of awesomeness and loveliness. There are different rules.

Even if we pretend that economics do directly equate to A&L, November is nowhere near early enough to make a difference to me. You'd have to be pushing a good February-of-the-previous-year to even begin to do any damage, as far as I'm concerned.

The Reindeer Parade was in the middle of November last year, too. I don't mind, though. I like Christmas, so I'm happy to start as soon as possible.

The best alternative-version-of-the-German-market was the year that Wolverhampton had a Hungarian market. I feel a lot can be learned about the relationship between Brum and Wolves from that one.

Mothertrucker, as good as they are, have a reeeeeeally crap name.

There was once a local band called "The Fucking Beatles", that one stuck me as particularly bad.

There must be loads of contenders though. I'll have a think about this.
