Maybe like, a song within a song within a song. Kinda like the John Williams score for Long Goodbye where all the music for the movie is covers in different musical styles of the title tune. It plays on the radio, in a piano bar, by a mariachi band. I wrote a paper in college on the sound editing in that movie. I went to Clown University.

When the San Fernando Valley (my homeland) nearly seceded from Los Angeles, one of the proposed names for the new state was Camelot. As it worked out, the SFV voted itself out but the rest of LA voted to keep us in, since they love getting all our tax dollars. It might've been sort of rad though, if only because it'd be funny if porn came from Camelot.

Great post. In college I wrote a play about alchemy, which gave me a good excuse to do lots of research on the subject in esoterically illustrated books. Alchemy developed most of the principles of chemistry through trial and error. Modern sciences all came out of some earlier magic-oriented practice, the purpose of which was to commune most fully with god. The Great Work, as it was called, also overlapped with philosophy, as alchemists attempted to understand the universe through its materials. Ergo astrology became astronomy, alchemy turned into chemistry, etc.

a. you're not alone in hating the word "moist," and yet you must admit it's a perfect sound symbol for the phenomenon it describes; moistness. it just sounds so moist.

b. some taco trucks and bodegas carry mexican coke, which is not a street drug, but just regular old coca-cola made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. aficionados claim it tastes far superior to american coke. I say the glass contour bottles it comes in are certainly more attractive.

c. what does coke taste like? the original recipe for coca-cola involved kola nuts and cocaine, which both act as stimulants and euphoriants. some think coke's flavor is a bastardized version of sarsparilla. the best description I've ever heard is "robot sweat."

Between this and Darjeeling, I see why Owen tried to off himself. But I love the dude, and while I will not pay to see this dumb movie, I would still pay to watch him read the phone-book.

Now if this movie were about Owen and a cute cat, I would be there on opening (and every subsequent) day.
