Plus, it's an independent art film house in a small, intimate, theater setting.

Cons:
A) Online ticketing should show whether a showing is sold out or not (instead of going through the process of purchasing the tickets only to find out that there are no seats available).
E.g., No available seats for the Sat. evening show. Found out by going through the online purchasing process. But there were two companion seats left for the 3:15 pm Saturday showing. So I decided to go to the box office 2 hrs. before showing to see if maybe they have tickets reserved for those people purchasing in -person. But no: same as purchasing online yourself except you're doing it via their iPads. And staff at the box office would not let me purchase the wheelchair companion ticket stating that it's only for people with disability on a wheelchair, to which I keep saying -- no, it's for their companion, and told them, as written in their site, that should a wheelchair-bound person and his/her companion show-up, I will be ask to move, to which the staff's reply was that sorry but the tickets sell-out immediately. What? Anyhow, I purchased my ticket online via my smartphone, and voila, I got the companion ticket. (And found-out later that they added another showing of Godard's film the next day. Would've gone there to that one instead).

thus,
II) A certain amount of tickets for those purchasing in-person should be held or at least have a standby option.

3) Movies that many may want to watch should be held in the larger theaters with multiple showings. Otherwise, this becomes an elitist and snobbish theater where only the few who have connections or are in-the-know get to see the nicely curated indiie films in a large screen, (unlike Nitehawk Cinemas, IFC, Angelika, Landmark...)

D) Staff wasn't much help at all. They didn't say when can one enter the theater and where. Plus, seems like they're only nice to the hipsters and not the locals.

v) Film stopped half-way (kinda like old-skool), but staff did explain the situation.

6) Yes, the price. For that amount I can purchase the film on Beta/VHS/DVD online. Or just get a subscription to Hulu+ where it has the Criterion Collection, like the films being shown there and just invite imaginary or not friends over to one's 9' X 10" feet $1500/mo. rental room/apartment sans utilities and gas or electric.

Hope that they'd have talks/discussions of the films pre- or post- show at the second floor, once it opens and the theater fully operational.
</babbling>

Still like it and am a fan, nonetheless. Will be getting into the groove on Tuesday night. Will be purchasing a membership as soon as they offer one. Wishing Metrograph the best.

Re: ‘Excuse My French,’ but Get Ready for Another Fuckin Bar on Orchard Street

Excusez-moi, but there's [already] a Pardon My French on the formerly Casimir on Ave. B. If the former, I am actually looking forward to this. We (my imaginary or not friends and I) were just talking of on wishing a coffee shop/café that'd show football games. Most of the prime matches, esp. the Derbies, start early* and are shown live here at 7am EST, and normal start time is 10am/11am (DST). And those are way too early to imbibe alcohol. Tried it a f̶e̶w̶ many times but after the matches end (yeah, amateur), you just end up sleeping the day away. Also, the Champions League matches are in the middle of the week and afternoon so it's either leave work early or take long lunch but would rather not drink and return to work afterwards. Technically one can order just coffee or soda and watch the matches at bars but the staff frowns upon it and keep upseliing you "Would there be anything else?" "Would there be anything else?" "Would there be anything else?". I actually would prefer it if a bar would just charge cover instead, like when Nevada Smith's was moving and had a temporary set-up at Webster Hall, they were charging $10 to see the matches. Also, if you are a supporter of a particular FC and at that FCs home pub, they have a section for coffee and tea for the underage supporters. And the juices or sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages cost as much as the alcoholic beverages so might as well consume the latter. Right?
Right.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah, hoping that this will be like a bar but a café that shows football matches. But won't be surprised if they apply for a beer and wine only license; it's football after all.

[*even there on the other coast, early kick-offs to curb fans' drinking]

Re: EMM Group Likely to Vacate 199 Bowery After the New Year to Make Way for Duane Reade

Expect a blow ̷o̷u̷t̷ New Years Eve party.

Re: Paulaner Brauhaus Will Reopen on the Bowery and Feel Less Like an Applebee’s

Confirmed -- reopening Friday, May 30th http://www.crainsnewyork.co... and it won't feel like an Applebee's but more of another trendeatery.

Re: Barcade Opening Another Location in Former Mondo Kim’s on St. Mark’s Place

Not an equal competitor but across the street, Papaya King has few arcade games — Galaxian, Pacman, Asteroids, and the original NBA Jam — along with a foosball table.

Re: This is What New York City Looks Like Through the Lens of Game Boy Camera

This reminds me of the film "Nadja" — filmed in Manhattan and Brooklyn where scenes from the POV of the vampire are shot in Fisher-Price PXL200.

Re: Where to Find Still Thriving Indie Bookstores in New York City

•Argosy Bookstore (rare and used books), 116 E 59th St -- UES

•Westsider Books (books and records and DVDs and CDs, oh my) 2246 Broadway -- UWS

•bookbook, 266 Bleecker Street -- Greenwich Village

•Mast Books, 66 Avenue A -- East Village

•East Village Books (used books), 99 St Marks Pl -- East Village

•Alabaster Bookshop, 122 4th Ave -- East Village/Union Square

•Shakespeare & Co. Bowery is sooo chichi. I just wanna go to a no-frill bar that serves bloodys and mimosas."
The people that these places are trying to cater to are avoiding them. Too trendy, fancy, and swanky. And now Chez wut? A diner means homely, welcoming, inexpensive good comfort food. This place had the opposite of those. Another example of conniving CB to pretend to serve food for the liquor license and excellent case of authentrification of NYC.

Re: Le French Diner Reopens Under New Ownership on Orchard Street

I wonder if they'll now serve Bud and have ketchup and accept reservations.
