White can be a tough color to paint for a number of reasons, but it doesn't have to involve a hundred steps or involve an airbrush to get a great result.
Of course the more time you invest in painting, the better you get and your results are often better... but there comes a point where having to paint the same model 8 times to get a single color can become crippling and kill any hopes of finishing an army in the color scheme.
There are tricks that can make painting white incredibly easy. While this tutorial is indeed one way to do it, there are other ways out there. Other ways that can be much faster, just as clean results and don't require a huge financial investment.

Re: Resin Pewter Paint

Nice work on this guy. I also think that after 20 more of them, you'll be a pro at it.
The trick is not using too bright of a color and instead of trying to accurately draw the tattoo, just go for a representation. It's more important that a viewer recognizes it as body art than they recognize it as being a fish or whatever kind of image it is.

Freehand like this is used to evoke a feeling. You're doing a great job.
Ron, FTW

Re: Imperius Dominatus: Hobby: paint damage to plain metal armour

Thanks for sharing the post!
I'm glad folks get some good info from the site. Most of the time you see them (the vehicles) painted black with some metal areas included in there. The all metal vehicle seems a bit more imposing in some ways. Almost like it's not a vehicle and more like some kind of construct or machine... not so much a flyer.

Nice job on these guys,
Ron, FTW

Re: ghost cadre: Kroot preview

Not having matching bases would drive me nuts too.
