Great topic. I listened while sitting at my potter's wheel cutting feet on dinner plates. I'm a potter and I've always considered myself someone who makes work for the 'masses'. My intention for many years has been to make work for the middle class to use in their homes. This has sort of worked out but honestly it seems like things have declined over the last decade or so as those folks have less income to spend on things like hand made craft. Your episode gave me pause and I think it's time to reconsider who I am making for. And to be very specific. Honestly, it scares me to do this. It may mean changing my philosophy. Or maybe it will just mean I have to work harder to get my pots in the 'right' place. "My work is not for you". That really struck me as something I need to think on as well. Thanks Todd.

Maybe it was just doing some QC work. That floor looked a tiny bit too thin. Looks like it failed 'hold my weight' test. And the scratching could have been testing to see how dry things were, maybe needed to be flipped over. Glad everything else 'passed'.

I am totally digging the Instapaper feature and will be listening to 5 by 5 today as I glaze a load of pots. It's was really good for me to come up and have some time w. you yesterday. I know you are super busy, I hope you got those cups handled. It was fun seeing the girls after school too. They are a joy and always make me smile.

Nice to see those great pots in both videos. Looks like there were plenty of birds. Loved the images on those Kirk Lyttle dishes too. I bought a plate of his at La Mesa in Louisville. It has a dumptruck on it.

Just found out about The Perennial Plate today. I'm hooked and will be watching all the episodes. Loved seeing the handmade pottery that you drank the Chaga from. Good food and drink in handmade pots is a wonderful thing. Hope you'll come to NC when you go on your country wide tour.

Yay, new equipment!! Cool banana. I like the way that the thrown part on the wall tile is a bit recessed from the tile (not out to the edge). Looks great.
