By definition, their thought processes purposefully evade logic, reason, or any inkling of critical thought.

Excuse me, I am going to go and attempt to teach geometry to my dog. I might find it more fulfilling.

Re: John Carlson | Saving Christmas from the grinches - Bellevue Reporter

Carlson’s attempt to play the scrooge card against the heathens among us was poorly conceived. I don’t care if the idea Christmas trees originated on Mars, a Christmas tree, if called such, represents Christmas. Religious people love to adopt symbols that have no authentic “origin”. This doesn’t mean I want WWJD or a cute fishy thing on my state emblem.

You can cry freedom of expression all the way to the Supreme Court, but you might run into a wall called “Separation of Church and State” along the way. And if you don’t believe in that, you have just taken the next step towards the Christian version of Iran. Ok, I exaggerate. Iran kills infidels. You just want to make them feel uncomfortable outsiders to their own society. By the way, even your precious Justice Roberts might have a difficulty supplanting the constitution with a Bible.

Trees and other religious symbols are lovely, especially for kids, and perfect for the home or congregation or any commercial establishment that wants to make that statement. My 5 year old enjoys ours. However, when recent studies show that fastest growing religious group is “Unaffiliated,” now at 15%, please think twice about spending our scarce tax dollars on religious displays.

Oh, and Mr. Carlson, for a unique holiday decoration for your home, you might get a good deal on a 2.6 ton monument of the Ten Commandments that the Montgomery Alabama courthouse has on mothballs.

Re: Walter Backstrom | This time, I really mean it - Bellevue Reporter

Great Ideas!

Oh, by the way, one small detail. How do you pay for it?

Re: A good reason government is secular - Bellevue Reporter

Thank you so much Paul, for having the courage to politely speak out on this subject. So much today do Christian Americans take their righteousness and superiority for granted and put it in our faces. So many equate american=christian, and that is sad and bigoted. They can have their beliefs, but keep them to the right venues: their homes, places of worship, meetings with friends, etc... I don't think places like schools, political speeches, or community newspapers that are deposited at our homes without request are the right forum for religious pandering.
