Just for anyone looking at this for upgrade options, please note that the SSD PCIe slot that is available, is a) difficult to access as you have to remove the screen and mainboard in order to access it and b) is *NOT* compatible with standard off the shelf PCIe SSDs.

I have researched this exhaustively and the only parts that will actually work in this slot (without having actually tried it but based on everyone else's experience) is an original OEM Apple SSD (Samsung custom made) you can potentially find these as pulled from old machines but can not use a regular part available from a 3rd party.
