The thing is, LA is probably the best place in the U.S. capable of hosting this. Rejuvenated downtown area near the Coliseum, aggressive plans for building out their public transit infrastructure, and they already have a venue that's been used for 2 prior Olympiads with great success.

There's no way San Francisco can or should compete with that. Total waste of money for us to consider that. But with Mayor Ed "Give-It-Away-For-Free" Lee as our mayor, who knows what'll happen.

I've been having some crashing issues but chalked it up to bugs with iOS 6.

Anyway, for me, I notice the crash always happens when taking a photo within Instagram. I've resorted to importing photos from the camera role for now and haven't had any issues otherwise. Switch over to camera mode within the app and BOOM. Crash.

Hint: In the new version of Instagram, a long press on the camera button will automagically open up your camera role.

Last night, the Tenderblog put on their first sort of Tenderblog meetup / happy hour at Edinburgh Castle (I used to live in the 'hood before I moved over to the Haight - some fond memories).

It might be cool to do some sort of Haighteration meetup / drinkup at some point!

Ah, interesting! That makes sense though. I remember seeing the "THE LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THIS LOCATION HAS BEEN SUSPENDED" sign pop up randomly one day and thought it was odd and unfortunate.

I love the idea and the location. OTC was definitely a favorite of mine when it existed there. I'm just worried how viable this really is. What will they do different to succeed where OTC didn't?

When I first moved to San Francisco, our apartment was in an alley by 6th and Folsom. It quickly made me wonder why I moved to this city.

It didn't help when we found one homeless bum giving another one a blow job on our doorstep one night.

Another interesting thing this piece fails to mention, is how moderate San Francisco actually is (contrary to popular belief): In this last election, we voted against decriminalizing prostitution, against various green energy / self-sufficient energy initiatives, we voted for bringing the ROTC back to campuses and against renaming our sewage plant after G.W. Bush.

Of course when you talk about "San Francisco values," no one mentions these things.

I remember seeing this at one of the Laughing Squid drink ups. It's a pretty impressive accessory. The website advertises 24 *hours* of talk-time? That's ridiculous. What is the capacity of the battery in that case? I couldn't find it on their website. It must be huge, something like 5600 mAh or so?

The iPhone 3G's battery is rated at 1400 mAh.

I just saw some folks shooting skate videos by the Ferry Building the other day and thought to myself that those are so passe now. Besides, what else could you do with them?

But this is incredible and beautiful! I can't wait to see more and also can't wait to see what else people do with the Red One.
