Some are awful, some are amazing.

Re: http://huskeyg.tumblr.com/post/3458484675

No need to apologize for something so epic! I went with one of his favorite dishes. He was totally surprised. But not as surprised as I was when after dinner he pulled out a list of things I need to work on. Admittedly each and every one of them were true and I'm glad we talked about them, but it put a serious damper on my awesome surprise (which he did apologize for, and told me he would have held off if he knew I had planned dinner.) Relationships, amiright? We're okay though... probably better now.

Thank god for the cheesecake, it was a desperately needed tension breaker. I hope your Valentines day goes considerably smoother than mine!!

Re: http://huskeyg.tumblr.com/post/3237142025

The thinking cap thing just blew my mind. Science!!

I'm very much the same way - I'm all about gadgets. Coincidentally, my boyfriend is the more sentimental one, too. I know I want to make him a nice dinner, but all I really have planned is dessert - he's a big fan of chocolate and cheesecake, so I'm gonna make a chocolate raspberry cheesecake. I'm also getting him a box of chocolates and a cute card. All I need to do is figure out what to make for dinner.

Cheesecake and chocolate is a meal, right? Hmm....

Re: I Give My Producer Hell 01.20.11

We've talked about it though and it really is hard to transition into weather. Unless you have a weather story you're pretty much setting yourself up for an awkward transition.

"Speaking of triple homicides, today's cold is going to be murderous". There's just no winning.

Re: http://huskeyg.tumblr.com/post/1645045531

I think we've all had to do something knowing fully well that it was going to kill us at the time. No matter how bad it feels though, life still goes on. I know it's easier said than done, but I find that the faster I can collect myself and move on the better.

Re: Walk Out

I heard about this "ad". Personally, I don't think there should be airtime for such propaganda. My hopes is that everyone sees the 30 seconds the same way as you (and I) - a break for beer. I just can't see this ad succeeding; I expect the message will fall on deaf, drunk, or otherwise distracted ears.

And are we really supposed to believe God would pay to interrupt Doritos, beer, and other advertisements to spread the words of such a clearly misguided group?

Re: Names

We covered this topic in my sociology class a couple years ago. As a class, our general consensus was that it does actually depend on the social standards given the locale, as well as your own personal standards. Of course, a textbook answer is probably the last thing you would want to hear. As I see it, you have to look at the situation, pick your guns, and stick to them. It sounds like Gypsy and Ginger really don't have a problem with the nicknames, and if anything they are taking a potentially derogatory term and spinning into something they are proud of which is absolutely awesome in my book (that is unless the parents have a problem with it, as they may not be so lighthearted on the matter.)

In college, my friends and I started the habit of calling each other horrible things that I wouldn't say around anyone else, but they're our inside jokes and we never really take offense to them and would never actually mean them in a derogatory manner to each other or anyone else. We're nice people, I swear!

Long comment short, the kids just seem to be having fun and they're not using words that are genuinely hateful. Unless it starts to become a problem where the kids are getting hurt I say let them have fun.

Re: Daily Coffee - How many cups have you had today?!

I'd give it a 4. While this stuff is not great for a caffeine fix, it's sugary goodness makes it somewhat tasty. If you're not really looking to leave the house or just want a quick coffee flavored drink (other than... you know, coffee), this stuff gets the job done. And, I would pick it over McCafe any day of the week.

Re: Daily Coffee - How many cups have you had today?!

About a 2. McCafe's espresso based drinks are laughable, if you could laugh while gagging and finding something to chase the stuff with. That stuff does not even fall into my "last resort for caffeine" category. In so many words, avoid it at all costs.

However, their iced coffees are their saving grace. Not their iced mocha, mind you, that falls into the espresso category. But their plain, vanilla, hazelnut, or even caramel flavored iced coffee drinks taste exceptional, and go quite well with a cinnamelt, I'd like to add.

Overall, McCafe is far from my first, but certainly not my last place to go for coffee.

Re: Daily Coffee - How many cups have you had today?!

I'd give it a 7. If your barista is good you'll never have a bad drink. They're prices are steep, but I like that I can walk into any Starbucks and and get my venti Starbucks Doubleshot the same way every time.

That being said, some places just blow them out of the water.

Re: Rob Yeager - The X-Play Intern: You may think to yourself, “You know, Rob’s...

X-Play has a segment called "Cheat" where they show how to make any particular game easier by showing where hidden or really good stuff is (interestingly, there are very few games that have cheats where you press buttons in a certain order anymore, like the song unlock cheats they used to have for guitar hero.) I've been in charge of recording the video for this segment the last couple times they've needed it, and tomorrow I get to actually sit down and watch it get edited, so that will be fun.

Re: Rob Yeager - The X-Play Intern: You may think to yourself, “You know, Rob’s...

Thank you! I'm not making any promises, but the internship coordinator I work with is also the recruiting director. I don't really have any sway right now, but who knows what kind of good words I can put in by the end.

Re: Humble in Victory

Maybe it's my college student sense of humor kicking in, but I would have come up with every conceivable sacrilegious statement and picked my favorite to announce. Good job on getting your money back! I agree, there had to be something fishy going on. It makes sense, too... the economy is down, houses are not moving very fast, and realtors need to keep making money somehow. Luckily, you don't have to play that game anymore.

Re: Rob Yeager - The X-Play Intern: Hey Rob,

I show up the evening of the 17th, my sister's graduation is the 18th, and I leave very early on the 19th. We may get to hang out, but all of my family is going to be in town for my sister's graduation... It very well may be Thanksgiving break until we get to see each other again.

Re: In Hollywood, they call it news.

That would surprise me at all, really.
