Start sprinting.

Look up Goshin Juitsu there are some solutions but you wont have to defend vs a knife if you run.

Re: Ask a Question

I can see where in the future for younger fighters Koshi Guruma will be illegal. Up here in Canada thats what is being pushed on us to do.

I would tell her to duck under and do Tae Guruma (Pick up) or a duck under leg pick with an ouchi gari. (Leg grabs will be taken away too though so this might not be a good idea)

Or how about just focus on getting the arm that would be going for her head and do a Makikomi. Of course Makikomi is going to be taken away from younger fighters too.

They are taking the wrestling out of Judo so it will be a different monster and force people to do true judo.

Re: Ask a Question

See... Karo Parisyan, Don Frye, Akiyama, Shinja Aoki, Yoshida, Hidehinko, Sokudu, Remco Pardue (UFC 2), Fedor the lists go on.... I know what you mean though.

However I think it has to do a great deal with a few factors...
1) Judo is not as popular in North America as Wrestling.
2) Judo uses a gi and many might feel uncomfortable.
3) Judo I think plays a bigger part over in asia in thier mma orgs.
4) Judo is not so recognized and is cross trained by wrestlers and Bjj guys. So when asked what they do they say one of the other two because your average guy knows what bjj and wrestling are.
5) Judo is not an "AGGRESSIVE" sport, dont get this confused with competitive though... And Make no mistake that MMA is AGGRESSIVE or greatly perseved as such.

For MMA I think its a wicked sport to have as a base. I would say it is 3/4 where BJJ is in the submission department and 3/4 what wrestling is in the takedown dept. Take down defence should be on par with Wrestling. And it would have the same level of Submission defence as BJJ. But it has a unique ability to work well off the cage/fence doing footsweeps/reaps "JUDO TRICKS" as Joe Rogan would say.

I would think Judo Would be better paired up with solid boxing rather than anything that throws kicks. But thats just my thoughts. Because its MIXED martial arts...

I hate watching the stereo typical, cookie cutter fighters I love watching fighters who are different... Machida, Karo Parisyan, Fedor, Cro Cop etc.

I hate watching the younger generation who can do everything, I guess I just like watching how grappling arts tend to rule in the octagon...

Re: Ask a Question

Does this only happen when he cuts weight? Maybe the loss of water is doing something equivelant to cramping up.
