First vacation in years. You have spoken at a user group I started years ago, and I have seen you speak at other events. When you mentioned the Netherlands I was instantly jealous. I thought you were from Florida like I am. How has that transition been? I like everything I hear about it other than cold weather. I lived in Alaska and escaped Anchorage at age 18.

Best of luck Shawn!

Re: Murdoch testified Fox News hosts endorsed idea that Biden stole election

Liar.

Re: Denmark to allow citizens fight in Ukraine — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

Has it ever dawned on you that the President of Ukraine is of Jewish heritage? Doesn't it seem stupid to accuse the entire nation of being neo-nazis when that clearly isn't the case? And if Zekenski had a Nazi problem don't you think he would deal with it?

I'd wager if you counted neo-nazis in Russia and Ukraine, Russia just might have more. Worry about your own nazis.

Re: Denmark to allow citizens fight in Ukraine — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

Sounds like Russia needs to be "liberated" from Putin who has been making not so subtle nuclear weapons threaths.

Re: Donbass republics ratify treaties with Russia — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

It's called using diplomacy first. Putin had no intention of walking away from this diplomatically but we still have an obligation to go through the motions to secure peace to avoid something that could escalate into a nuclear war. It probably won't but Putin is playing with fire.

And the game isn't over. Putin doesn't have the money to continue playing beyond Ukraine. And he is going to be losing men and hardware in a very long war. We (the US) won't physically be there but we will still be there. Some scores to settle. Remember Syria?

Re: Donbass republics ratify treaties with Russia — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

NATO continued to exist because of terrorism. And now Putin is giving NATO a reminder of why NATO originally existed. Had Russia not failed at democracy, destroyed the free press, and embraced a shared democracy with Europe NATO could have become a relic of the past.

If Putin really hated NATO the best strategy would be to embrace democracy over personal power. Putin wants NATO because it gives him a boogeyman to gin up Soviet nostalgia and nationalism. Ukraine isn't even in NATO and it was very unlikely that they would have ever joined NATO. Now it's a toss-up. And more likely they would join NATO than before.

What you people don't get is that NATO has requirements to get in and Ukraine wasn't even close to meeting them. If they get in now it will be more about a balance to Russia than about Ukraine.

Russia is turning Ukraine into a chess piece by invading. The only advantage Russia has here is geographic proximity and time. Getting NATO members to agree on this is like herding cats. And I suspect some NATO members would object, effectively blocking membership.

But Russia needs to remember that they are the #2 military soon to be #3 behind China and although they can throw a good punch they won't win a war with the US. Technically Russia could force both countries to lose a war by using nuclear weapons. So the best Russia could hope for is mass suicide and homicide in that type of war.

The other factor is money. Russia can't sustain a long term major war. Once their hardware breaks down or is destroyed in battle what will they replace it with? Old Soviet hardware collecting dust and rust for 40 years?

Re: Donbass republics ratify treaties with Russia — RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

Read any mein kamph lately?

The Red Army had to be there. It was fight or surrender to Hitler. The US didn't have to be there. We chose to be there. We chose to fight. Attack a democracy like Ukraine and who knows what we will choose to defend next. We might not defend Ukraine. Or we might. Or we just might defend them in other ways. You might want to remember the lessons taught last time Russia went into Afghanistan and fought a proxy war with American fingerprints on it. The lesson we recently learned the hard way.

Russia will probably overcome Ukranian military opposition swiftly. But a quick victory will be followed by month after month of dead Russians returning to their widows. And look forward to people with prosthetic limbs everywhere.

American fingerprints will be on this war also, returning the favor for Russian meddling in Syria.

Oh, and don't forget all of the sanctions and a return to poverty in Russia.

Don't be idiots. You might win the first battle. But you won't win the war.

Re:

Those bombs destroy a few square kilometers. 20% of a typical city. Today's weapons destroy entire cities and the suburbs.

Nuclear weapons should never be used again. If they are used again it is likely to escalate and unless you live far away from the city and far away from military installations and critical infrastructure, expect that to be your last day alive, if you are lucky. If you are unlucky expect to die a few days later in agony the entire time.

Re:

Comparing NATO with the former Soviet Union is completely senseless. The Soviet Union was effectively a country with one central government and member states subservient to the USSR. NATO is a military alliance designed to keep peace in Europe and serve as a counter balance to Russia. It's an agreement to come to the others defense, for example, Russia attacks any member.

Putin is playing with fire right now. And is giving Ukraine an even greater incentive and desire to join the NATO alliance.

In my view there is an endgame here. Russia is not giving back the Crimea Peninsula. And there appears to be no end to the separatists desire to break away from Ukraine given that many identify as Russian. And eventually Ukraine is joining NATO.

Let's be pragmatic. Figure out where to draw the line in Eastern Ukraine and cede it to Russia. Have a land and property buyback so that people who identify as Ukranian can relocate safely to that side of the border. Recognize Ukrainian membership in NATO and recognize internationally the new borders.

And if Putin pulls this crap again, (everyone) kiss your asses goodbye because it will escalate into nuclear war. Putin clearly doesn't have a healthy respect for the threat of nuclear weapons towards every human on the planet. And Russians should vote the idiot out of power like we did with Trump. Enough wars already.

Re: Marijuana Cannabinoids Don't Help With Depression, Anxiety, ADHS, Tourettes, Or PTSD | Science 2.0

From personal experience with CBD, it works for anxiety.
