Hello Sarah, I'm not sure why I've grown to 1k subscribers either. There was a peak when my blog used to hit Digg once in a while. Used to be an early blogger on social media before the term was created ;)

Now its tapered off when I concentrated on personal experiences with social media, DIY, videography, etc. Strangely I was only recently alerted to your post via Technorati. Since we're on the topic of reading rss feeds, here's my collection of organized reads on Netvibes. I'll be adding you :)

Where email or phone require prep, IM encroaches on personal space, twitter fits somewhere between the public and the private, enabling us to talk to strangers we admire or like.

It's a "cut to the chase" medium, giving folks like me the ability to reach out and touch someone, where it might have otherwise taken forever. It simply leapfrogs.

Finding relevant people to add is what MrTweet is built to do, and it's great that users aren't satisfied. A learning algorithm could be employed for users to add or remove twitter users in order to shape further recommendations :)

@rohitbhargava: I'd say I'm at Stage 5: Microblogging. However, just as you experienced, thousands of tweets later and I'm still trying to figure out the best strategy for using twitter. It's as open-ended as "traditional" blogging, yet as fast paced and directly reciprocal as playing a multiplayer game. I believe that the trick isn't to overthink the process of using twitter, but to simply get a feel of your utility from your followers. At the end of the day, the modes of twittering is a varied as the modes of blogging.
