I think scheduling something isn't reason to be slighted. If anything, life's moments are largely scheduled - we don't celeberate birthdays in advance just because we thought about it many months before. Instead we deliberately delay that thought (or its execution) until the appropriate time.

But what I think makes a message lose its meaning is when it's templated. It stops being sincere when it's a template. Personally when I realise that something is templated, i don't even bother making a mental note of having received anything. When a person sends the exact same greeting to all his friends, I feel what the person is doing is satisfying his own conscience so as to be able to say, "I've done my part to be a good friend." as opposed to trying to make a sincere connection.

People feel appreciated when they know that the sending party spent time to prepare something. Money and stuff everyone can do (and get others to do for them).

Time, on the other hand, is irrecoverable. To be on the receiving end of it (and being appreciative of it) is knowing that the sender gave the recipient a part of his life.

Correct me if i'm wrong. But the last time I checked with M1, despite quite a number of phones already having NFC, only a handful are actually supported (http://www.m1.com.sg/M1/sit...

I'm was on the Nexus S and now on the Nexus 4 and both times when I tried to get M1 to give an NFC sim card, they refused because my phones are not endorsed. Seems like this is going to a major barrier to adoption.

Out of the 6 phones listed on the M1 site, 2 phones are no longer available for sale. Which means only 4 phones are supported.

I think politicians are largely puppets by circumstance. In the world we live in, I think it's the corporations who have the most power to affect change. In any case, do whatever you feel that makes you happy. And help others along the way. One of the surest way of improving many lives is to improve the life of one person at a time (and sort of make sure they remember to pass it on. haha)

That said, I think pay should be pegged to the value of the job and whether or not the person's formal education actually helps the person perform that job more efficiently/effectively. Beyond that, it's experience and performance that would matter more.

Yeah I suppose so... It's just frustrating when I take relationships with people (of the platonic kind included) so seriously and then I realise that it was a one-way arrangement. It's happened so many times I wonder if I'm just being too nice to people in general.

Know how some people treat others like crap until you earn their friendship? I actually believe in treating people with respect until they give me a reason to do otherwise. And yet, I see why the former protects oneself in so many more ways... frustrating.

Btw, congratz over next year's arrangements :) If all goes well, I'll be there :)
