You can pull off an episode like this but it can't be all lovey dovey - after all, these are competitors who are trying to beat each other, and that needs to come across on screen or the stakes are meaningless. I'd recommend for future seasons that they take this "recap episode" and move it to the Jury House, which IMO is a more interesting place right now than the BB house. All of this reminiscing should be coming from the evicted housemates because they have legitimate beefs and conflicts with the remaining group. Having a little insight into which way they're swaying with their votes would also help color the finale in a different way.

Re: The Bottom Line on Apple and YouTube

Actually the viewers aren't losing out, because mobile ad impressions means more revenue for creators, which makes it easier for their favorite shows to sustain or scale.

Re: Uninsured Aurora shooting victims face financial devastation

Hi Xeni, according to this Reddit thread started by the victim's best friend, his wife gave birth today:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Ass...

Also, FWIW, Warner Bros is planning on making a "substantial" donation:
http://www.hollywoodreporte...

Re: blip.tv (new) (since 2005)

Hey Leif, you can download episodes for free through iTunes. Here's a quote from it that I especially like: "I’m not saying you have to be negative to be taken seriously, but if you only focus on shows that are successful, then the medium will never progress."

Re: An open letter to reviewers of web shows and online video

Liz, first of all thank you for writing reviews that aren't always good. This post was partly inspired by your Occulterers review.

You raise an interesting point about all of us, including creators, publicly saying what we think. Personally, I agree with Bernie (below) about having no qualms with sharing my criticisms in private with fellow creators. But going public is a different beast for people like me. It's one thing when a reviewer gives criticism and a whole 'nother thing when a peer does it. The system is set up so reviewers have the luxury of working outside the incestuous nature of the business. I actually envy you in that regard. But I agree it shouldn't ALL be on your shoulders, so I'll be more vocal. Thanks for contributing to this discussion!

Re: An open letter to reviewers of web shows and online video

Hey Marc, thanks for chiming in here! Definitely understand your point about limited resources. I think we can all agree no publication is expected to review everything that comes across its desk. My point is simply that, from a reader's perspective, it's strange to see a show promoted before its launch, and then never reviewed. Especially when the show isn't very good, and the parties involved are friendly with the reviewing entity. While it may be completely innocent and coincidental, from the outside it just seems too convenient. Again.. "from the outside" - which is why your contributions to this discussion are appreciated.

And your point about "no clear line" in deciding which shows to review is loud and clear.

Also just want to say, I totally agree with Dan about Tubefilter being an incredible resource, and more importantly, you guys are doing an amazing job of promoting web TV, building out the community, and legitimizing the industry. Thank you for that!

Re: mtv is sleeping.

I just went to MTV's homepage and there was a big honkin' photo of Kanye & Taylor, which linked to a clip of the speech with about 2.5M views. Not too bad. I see what you're saying about having to hunt for an unauthorized clip -- but still -- that's a big leap from just a couple years ago. Truth is, I was really shocked to hear this news today. It's one of those things you NEVER expect to hear about your friends. You are one of the most upbeat, positive people I know, and there's no way in hell you won't beat this. It was great seeing you in Austin for SXSW and I'm looking forward to seeing more of you in LA. :)

Re: http://blog.rickrey.com/post/110418592

I think you'll like it Mike.
