Sorry it took me so long to find it. Glad you liked it, and I'll definitely keep your constructive criticism in mind when writing my next e-book.

Best regards,
Rick Copeland

Re: Using the Python toolkit Ming to accelerate your MongoDB development

Currently, Ming does not support (easily) having a class which validates that some fields are present, but allows additional, arbitrary extra fields. It does, however, support a *subdocument* with arbitrary fields. For the Field/FieldProperty definition, just use { str: None } as your schema for that field (or, if you prefer the long form, schema.Object({schema.String(): schema.Anything()}).

Re: Using the Python toolkit Ming to accelerate your MongoDB development

Honestly I'm not as familiar with the other mappers, but my impression is that none of the others provide the unit of work / identity map that Ming provides in its ODM. MIM is also unique as far as I can tell. If these things aren't as important, your selection probably comes down to personal preference. Any other Python ODM folks want to chime in?

Re: MongoDB and Python

Hey everyone who came to the MongoDB and Python tutorial -- I realize there was just too much material to cover, so if you want to continue to work through the examples or just have questions about MongoDB or Ming, please post here, or find me or Bernie at the conference (I'll be here all week). You can also get me on twitter as @rick446 .

Re: Piece Of Py(thon)

Great to have you officially on board now, WWIII!

Re: Why SourceForge Lost

Disqus weirdness anonymized my initial comment. Sweden != Norway (nor is France, nor Germany, nor the Netherlands). The article isn't about Europe in general, but about Norway in particular, which seems to have a thriving entrepreneurial landscape despite high tax rates.

Re: Online Meeting And Appointment Schedulers: Comparative Guide And Review Of The Best Collaborative Tools

Great article!

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as well with my site http://www.WebAppointmentsN.... It is true that Python, in turn, copied these features from other languages, however. List comprehensions (the progenitor of array comprehensions in Javascript), for instance, were an idea (though not a syntax) copied from Haskell.
