Your phone is jailbroken at step 10. so you must have cydia at this step. Then install ultrasn0w from Cydia.

If you do not need unlock, that is, you are okay with baseband update, then you are good to go!

Yes. You'll have to update to stock 4.2.1 first. If you use iPhone 4 and need unlock, stay away from this.

This errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. If the MAC address is missing or the IMEI is the default value (00 499901 064000 0), this can also confirm a hardware issue.

redsn0w is a mac application and not iPhone firmware. Thats why it is in zip format

iPhone comes locked with a particular carrier. Unlock means that you can use any sim with your iPhone
