It's good to see Swiss Skydiver looking so well. I really didn't like hearing her described as an "item." She's not a collectable stamp, she's Swiss Skydiver.

Thanks. Her name was Pony. She lived to be 15, She was the dog of a lifetime. I still have one dog and he'll be my last. She died on Aug 25, 2019 and I cry for her almost every day.

This race is a mess. Johnny V was also not allowed to fly to Saudi, necessitating in a last-minute jockey change for Tacitus. And then they never released the winner's purse to Max. I was wondering earlier if I could bet this race at TVG but now I may not bother.

Foals from cloning or by using a surrogate mare are not allowed to be registered with the Jockey Club and therefore are not allowed to race.

I remember when McPeek was arguing with Swiss Skydiver's owner about whether to run her in the BC Distaff or Classic. The owner chose the Distaff because he did not want Swiss Skydiver running against males again. I guess the money changed his mind.

I didn't watch the races last year. Anyone know if the Saudi Cup is on TVG or other livestreaming channel?

What if you wanted to do such a bet and knew the horse was nominated for the Triple Crown and he or she was on the Vegas future book?

It looks like Swiss Skydiver knew a camera was on her and she showed off for it. What a star. McPeek posted a video earlier of her munching away at her feed. She looks really good. Hope she stays sound.

I've forgotten a lot of things in my long life but I have not forgotten that race. It was such an exciting stretch drive, I was on my knees in front of the TV. And then --

It was breakdowns like that turned me away from racing for about 20 years. I still wonder if Go For Wand would have survived had she not raced as a two year old or was bred to be stronger so her legs wouldn't implode when racing at full speed.

I've noticed TV cameras turn away immediately when a horse breaks down or even starts acting up before the gate. As if we don't know what's going on.

Sports Illustrated did a big spread about her going down and the outrider earing her down to keep her still. She seemed so much smaller than usual then.

Now I'm old and cynical and watching the races again.

He's still awful green and has a lot of growing up to do. The horse honestly seem bored in the stretch and only ran so well because of Saez. Will he grow up in time for the first Saturday in May?

My older brother had a lovely female Eastern box turtle named Henrietta. One day, years after she first came into our family's lives, she laid eggs. As a little kid, I found it baffling that a turtle could lay eggs without mating with a male turtle first. As parents, my parents were surprised that I new about turtles, birds and bees. Anyway, it was obvious that the eggs were infertile and needed to be trashed or they would rot. My Mom wanted to crack one open and see what was inside. The rest of us nixed the idea. Henrietta could not be bothered by the whole upheaval in the family. I miss her.
