Methinks it's worth mentioning that small business environment is more often than not entrepreneurial and not at all stifling for individual creativity and growth. It's important because small businesses are responsible for like 3/4 of the jobs in a healthy economy. Then there is as much MBA porn as there is entrepreneurial one. Porn is all around us in the form of incessant desire to be something we're not. That's our blessing and our curse.

Re: E-Commerce Customer Acquisition Snapshot

Whoa. We at Relenta CRM also rely heavily on the response library to speed up the response time. Not surprisingly, this feature is built in the very app we're supporting :) I would also add that logging and analyzing knowledge base search queries helps a lot to understand what's going on in customers' heads. Sometimes we record short videos using Jing, upload to Screencast.com and email customers the link. Indeed it's often faster than typing and easier to understand than words. Thank you for the fantastic resource, Chase!

Re: 50+ productivity blogs

Rami listen. Every few weeks add a minute. Don't be greedy and don't hurry. Here's a good starting point:

http://zmm.mro.org/teaching...

I like zazen because it's the purest and most minimalistic form of meditation, IMHO. In fact zazen is the only form of Zen practice. No extras.

If Zen esthetics doesn't appeal to your cluttered Western mind you can always look up another kind of a mediation class in your area.

Meditation to mind control (and habit forming) is what calisthenics is to any sport. A necessity.

Re: I am in Google’s first page. I've been trying to hire an SEO firm but they all seem to be selling you all the crap that you don't need to justify their ridiculous monthly retainers. The truth, as always, is simple :)

I've tested your approach with several keywords we want to rank http://www.relenta.com for, and, consistent with your examples, the top two results for keywords "small business CRM" are "5 alternatives" and "4 options" Hmmm! That missing ingredient is company's ideology, or core values. Like a battle cry for the army, it gives people sense of purpose and unity. I recommend using Jim Collins’s Building Your Company’s Vision framework, it works very well for us.

http://hbr.org/1996/09/buil...

Re: Are you using these life changer apps?

My life-changing app, not surprisingly, is the app I created: Relenta. Our tagline is "CRM for people who get things done." CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management.

Here's our story.

It all started in 2004 as an in-house project when we were working on another project which we've since abandoned.

At some point, we got just couldn't stand having customer data spread across a number of email accounts, apps, platforms and browser windows.

We thought an integrated email, contact and task manager might help reduce the busy work. As it turned out, simply by combining email and CRM functions we cut our workload in half. The improvement was nothing short of breathtaking.

This idea is summarized in our web commercial:

http://youtu.be/d-YKrFmuLuc

Re: How to have vacation mood all year around?

That's a good framework to use. There are many others. The problem is that knowing and not doing is not knowing. The key is to use it, and that requires tremendous mental discipline. Untrained mind can accomplish nothing.
