Thanks for the post. It feels like I was missing the boat with the location based social networks. Just tried all 3. I am most impressed with GoWalla. It is great to see that Austin startups are making world-class products. Loopt has some serious funding and it's been around the longest. GoWalla shows that getting funding is not the most important and not to be intimidated by market leaders. If you think you can do something better than anyone else then it could very well be worth trying.

Charlie Rose is the best interviewer ever. His questions make him seem like he is knowledgeable about technology. He does so with interviewees of all professions.

$7.5 million to develop a new syndication platform? Looks like they are just running outta cash. *Sigh* Online video is a tough business. It hard to cover bandwidth costs with ad sales. I wonder if they pay their video instructors.

No need to feel disgusted towards finance, understanding the intricacies of the finance is invaluable to a startup. ( MBAs, JDs cannot screw you over with their bs jargons). Non-profit organizations need more smart finance/economics majors. The positive side effect of the Wall Street meltdown is that more finance grads are working for non-profit since W. Street is not hiring. I hope more grads will realize that working at a good startup will produce more utility to the society and the economy than at a big bank.
