I grew up in the Midwest where the most that might be
separating you from your neighbors was a chain-link fence or some
bushes. It forced you to get to know your neighbors and built a sense
of community.

Re: *Yawn* … Good morning!

I love the new look! I believe this is already how it works with Plaxo. If not, that's what I'd like to request.

Also, any updates on this? There's lots of reasons people choose not to or cannot have kids. I just get sick of having to make exceptions all the time for the people who do as if their lives are somehow more important, and Daryl and I can be inconvenienced because we don't have kids.

Re: The Coyote's Byte

I doubt it. Once your coworkers got to know you and saw how truly warped you are (just like me), they would call Child Protective Services because no one in their right mind should leave you in charge of children. ;-)

Re: FriendFeed

Would those comments then appear back on the original blog? That would be great.

I've always been a little concerned over the issue that Friendfeed takes the discussion away from blogs and puts it somewhere else. That's the primary reason I don't use Friendfeed. I feel FF hijacks the conversation on content created elsewhere.

If Disqus creates the roundtrip syncing of comments, that would be a killer feature for Disqus. Yes, I know, you're working on it and you have to get FF to buy into it too.

Re: Various suggestions

Ew. Perhaps Diqus could allow a person to set-up different profiles under one account. The person could use different e-mails (and even avatars) on different profiles.

When logged in, the Disqus user would be given a drop-down menu where the could select which profile they wanted to use to post the comment. This would eliminate the need for setting up multiple Disqus accounts.

This is really an important issue for me personally when using Disqus. It would help me maintain a certain level of privacy when posting to public/unknown blogs but share more information when on friend's blogs.

Other Disqus users out there- what do you think?

Re: The Coyote's Byte

I would tell them "Nope- I'm going to spend it all before I die having
a fabulous time which is something you'll never be able to do because
all your money will go to baling your kids out."

Re: The Coyote's Byte

After reading this, Daryl mentioned he has on the TiVo an episode of The Twilight Zone with Agnes Moorehead. Mine shows # of comments, etc.

Re #3 - Can you hook up and have dual monitors? I have a second monitor hooked up to my Macbook Pro and like being able to keep different windows on different screens.

Re #5 - I got mine at 1:50am my time (3:50a yours). The text wasn't supposed to go out to this morning, but once some "anonymous" official leaked it to the press, they had to move things up. A shame really. The Associated Press said that the Democratic Official who leaked the information asked to remain anonymous so as not to steal the thunder from today's official announcement. Are you kidding me? Did he (or she) really expect the press not to go apeshit over it?

Re #6 - There has been a fair amount of attack ads against McCain in recent days (did you not see the ad about the 7 houses?). Once of the things about picking his running mate is now Obama has someone to do the attacks against McCain while he (Obama) tries to remain on topic and not sling mud. I don't think it has anything to do with him needing to grow balls. I think he's trying to keep the image of him being the "change" candidate. If he starts slinging mud, it will be seen as politics as usual.

Re: What’s Bugging Rick? As much as I like Hillary and supported her run for
President, I think she would have probably hurt the ticket more than
helped it. I still think most Hillary supporters (despite their tough
talk) will vote for Obama. By choosing Biden, Obama stands to gain
*new* voters to the ticket rather than just reconfirming the Hillary
supporters' votes.

I would like to see Hillary as a possibility for Secretary of State,
although Bill Richardson would probably be excellent choice for that
role. Hillary is a strong Senator, so maybe that's where her talents
are best utilized for now.

Re: Blast from the Past: Great Space Coaster!

Can't say I remember this per se although it does look vaguely familiar.

With the Olympics going on, I've been recalling the Laff-A-Lympics.
