The re-occuring dance routine video skit is funny. I like the n-word she dropped a few week ago too.

Bottom Line: They need more physical comedy. McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Keenan are great at impressions. Taran Gilian is average. Everyone else is bad.

Re: SNL Cast Predictions for Season 42: Who’s In? The church sits on a public street corner and has several exits to the parking garages - a half block walk on this public street. A Westboro member was on a microphone preaching about something but Lakewood had positioned a large sound system on their sidewalk and drown out the Westboro speaker with music. The walk from the front door to the parking garage is around 60 seconds. I think I heard the Westboro person for all of 8-10 seconds. They wasted their time.

Re: Joel Osteen endorses Obama just before midterms

I have gone to Joel's church for 13 years. If he endorses Obama, that's fine. That's his personal endorsement, not every person in the congregation. I don't. I believe Joel's style is one of true biblical principle (every sermon has at least 2-3 bible verses on the monitors) and he applies those verses on how to conquer or overcome life's daily challenges. Growing up in a non-church going family, I have attended a few Catholic services and I didn't understand them and I didn't enjoy them. I will say that Joel appeals to people like me that never had a positive religious experience prior. My feeling is that he converts non-believers into believers - just as Jesus and the apostles . If you already practice your faith, Joel's ministry will seem light. That's fine.

Regarding money, Joel and Lakewood Church has never ever pressured me into giving money. I could have gone there the entire 13 years without giving a single dime. Nobody would have turned their nose up at me or refused to shake my hand. My understanding is that Joel never took a salary from the church after the first few years of him becoming senior pastor (after his dad died). I think most of his money comes from books and other materials. He claims that the Osteen family are the biggest contributors to the church today.

Joel addresses the Larry King comment with the congregation after it happened. He humbly asked for forgiveness and boldy confessed that the only true way to God was through his son, Jesus Christ.

I actually agree with comments about Christians being hypocritical - unfortunately we tend to measure ourselves against each other. Sunday we are smiling, Monday we are cursing. But if I were perfect, I wouldn't need Jesus. The church is not a museum to the well, it is a hospital for your struggles - whatever they may be. Funny thing, I learned that from Joel.

In summary, Joel and Lakewood may not be for everyone but I can tell you this - Jesus is the center of all sermons; the bible is used at every sermon, every function; pray in a group and individual pray is done at every sermon. Alter calls are done at every event. My advice is to not judge Joel and Church from political endorsements, snippets from Larry King, and what others say. Come on down to Houston and sit through a church service - suits & ties aren't required. Anyone is welcome.

Re: Why the White House Killed the Platinum Coin

Kill the penny. The goal of a blog is to give the reader insight and help them gain some trust and identify with the people in your company... The internet age has allowed us unprecedented access to people but it is ever so superficial. My recommendation - personalize without giving TMI. Find a common personal ground with you readers. You aren't selling your product or service with a blog, you are selling trust in you and your company that they can't get from the oodles of info on your web site.

Re: Thoughts on Mark Lewis’ Future Storage

LOL!
