I would have, without doubt, bought the diesel model, but unfortunately as Smart42 mentioned, it is unavailable in the US. I suppose that's fine. America is the way America is; change is gradual at best.

I haven't started trying to hyper-mile with my fortwo yet. I am having too much fun driving it with gusto. I will keep a log of my mileage and write a story about hyper-miling in the Smart Car come December break.

Thanks for bringing up those points Robert. I agree with you about the panels. The apartment complex where I reside has unusually thin parking slots that don't provide much room to maneuver in my Civic or even my friend's Fit. Because of this, my Civic is dinged up, scratched, and dented. And last time I checked it costs more to replace a rear quarter panel of a Civic than it does a Smart. (Here's hoping I don't have to)

I would like to say that I parked in a parking spot most cars couldn't even dream of fitting in. I paralleled in that baby like nobody's business. A Honda fit couldn't do it.
