I am going to do it this way. Lately, I've just been using my juicer to make "ice cream" for my little one. :o)
On another note: did you know there's a Traditional Foods Buying Club here in MN and they have their own 7500 sq. ft. warehouse? I was so excited to find out about it! www.traditionalfoodsmn.com

Re: Truffle Giveaway! No joke!

So cool about the truffles!! I can relate about the career - I walked away from a very good one at the Space Center about 3 years ago to raise my daughter. It's been tough, but worth it since we believe in it so strongly.
We live in a little apt in MN so there's not much room to grow stuff. We did have hanging buckets that we grew tomatoes and green peppers in. We'll do that again soon. We also will be growing wheat grass and herbs. We make our own kombucha and as soon as money is right we'll start making our own kefir. Now there's something that makes me mad - that eating healthy is expensive. I wish there was a way to make it affordable for everyone that wants to eat this way. I'm on the verge of going primal but man.....that grassfed/free range/organic, etc stuff is expensive! It is so tempting to just buy the pretty red meat at walmart, but I can't help but see the skull and crossbones symbol transposed over it. I've done raw vegan, vegan, vegetarian and now hopefully the primal is what my body will finally say yes to. Sorry for the rant.

Anyway, so we will eventually be buying local - there are farms near that we can get raw from. And we have a favorite that we buy our veggies from - Peter's Pumpkin and Carmen's Corn in Shakopee. Their produce is outstanding! I want to try making fermented again. We tried it using a recipe from V. Boutenko's book but it didn't work out. Do you know of a good recipe for that?
And do you know anybody that cow-shares in MN (near Belle Plaine)?

Re: 2009 Raw Food and Beyond Holiday List - Part One

That is so cool that you guys "came out of the closet". We are about to do the same. After having some health issues we are thinking that maybe eating the way our ancestors ate might be better for us - at least we can try it since we've tried everything else! Buffalo was a big staple for my ancestors - still trying to figure something for Joe since he's a mutt. Just kidding!! He's predominantly French so I'll have to figure out what that means besides butter sauces and pastries. I don't think raw cheeses and stuff were part of my ancestors, but I'll try it and see how my body does. Thankfully WILD RICE was a staple too - that's my FAVORITE food!!!! So we'll see how things go. The best diet that worked for me out of all of them was the Atkins diet - I was the most satisfied and full - I lost over 50lbs easy. But now I know that wasn't a good diet for my internal body. But that makes me think that eating the RIGHT kind of meat would work well for my body, so I'm excited to see if that's going to hold true. Anyway, we love you guys and are thankful for all that you do!! Merry Christmas. :o)

Re: Pure Market Express Review [Raw Delivery Service]

Thanks guys! I am excited to see where our path leads - PME is just the beginning. :o)

Re: Victoria Boutenko: New Books, New Interview, New Controversy

And I know about the shame and guilt that comes with being 100% raw and then adding cooked foods. Which might be what Victoria’s dealing with. She herself said in her book 12 steps to raw (I’m paraphrasing) that she has to stay 100% raw because if she started eating cooked foods – even a little – it would spiral into something not good. My husband and I don’t, as yet, have the mindset to allow us to eat cooked food. We can start out with good intentions – only healthy foods like wholesome soups and stuff – but it never stays that way. We end up going over board like eating a dozen eggs between us at one time with toast and then eventually back to eating burgers and fries. It’s so addicting – especially with people who have addictive personalities. We yo-yo between cooked and raw and each time realize that cooked is not for us right now. I’d like it to be though, because I miss eating different things and the whole social aspect of it. But I know for myself and my husband personally, we feel better physically and mentally just being 100% raw. Actually, I think it might have something to do with boredom too. We get bored with having smoothies all the time. It’s time for me to get off my lazy butt and get creative I guess. :o)

Re: Victoria Boutenko: New Books, New Interview, New Controversy

And I know the whole weight issue thing with being raw. I’ve lost weight, but am still obese. My husband has lost a lot of weight, but is looking a little too skinny and is now trying to regain weight through muscle. And I realize that now I need to start exercising not only to lose weight, but to keep my organs healthy. When you don’t exercise your body becomes stagnant, even if you eat healthy. Just think about a body of water (which is what we’re mostly made up of) – if it sits it becomes stagnant and has all kinds of nastiness in it. And I've finally realized that it doesn't have to be done with sweat and pain. I can incorporate into my daily routine the practice of Tia chi/ QiGong to exercise every part of my body inside and out. And I'm also wrapping my brain around the fact that I can still be healthy - have healthy organs - and not have to look like a rail. I’ve set my sight on being 130lbs, then 140lbs, but now I’m realizing that I’m looking at it wrong. It’s not based on numbers, but on how my body feels. Every body is made different and I need to stop trying to force myself into somebody else’s mold.

Re: Victoria Boutenko: New Books, New Interview, New Controversy

According to Matt's website the radio show will be Friday, November 27th.

Re: Raw Magic by Kate 'Magic' Wood Review [Raw Book Review]

My vote is:
* Cacaomole
* Broccoli Bonkers
* Hi-cake

Re: The Secret Life of Gabrielle Brick [Raw Food on Television]

Looks interesting. I am soooo looking forward to going back to them again. It's kind of like powwows - you meet up back with old friends and "family" each summer. At one farmer's market we went to we saw things we'd never seen before that Asian farmers brought. It is so neat to be able to experience all these different flavors and sensations that different people bring. So anyway - I'm "down" with making video of that. :o)

Re: Reader Survey: How Would You Tell A Friend About Raw Food?

I just had this situation happen to me. A girl I used to be best friends with contacted me on Facebook about a couple weeks ago. I haven't talked to her for like 19 years. I was a whole different person back then. I am starting back 100% raw this Monday so when we eventually meet for lunch (she lives in Northern MN) I'll be raw. I've been thinking that when that time comes I'll eat a salad and of course a comment will be made about eating healthy so I'll just tell her briefly what I'm doing, my results with that, and then if she wants to know more she can ask. That's the plan anyway. :o)

Re: Win Free Wild Jungle Dried Durian from Raw Guru!
