I'm curious if it's still going strong for you, and what you're doing with the data. I have an Enphase install from 2010 and it's still going well.

From your previous post, I was just thinking "how is it that he's doing a man-in-the-middle" with SSL? The fact that an embedded solution doesn't implement a full and robust SSL stack doesn't surprise me in the least.

Re: Look At This Treehouse

You only hurt the ones you love(?)

Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’

I too liked the book, although I read it a long time ago. I thought it was clever and had a good message at the time I read it, and going back over it I don't find any angle in the book itself that has an anti-LGBT message. That is, unless, the Buggers are the LGBT community.

Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’

The truly dark secret is that the number of gays that were molested or raped as children is very likely not statistically different from straight kids that were molested or raped. <sigh>

Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’

Yes, Card, as a producer, almost certainly has "points" in this film, or has a contract that gets him access to pre-profit revenue.

Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’

I think that it's fair to point to his own hypocrisy in his statements. But the problem is one of liberty and minding one's own business; he is entitled to spout his opinion on whether LGBT should be allowed to marry. However, he then goes on to talk about violent revolution if gay marriage becomes the law of the land. They have a word for that kind of rhetoric: sedition.

The merits of his claims that gay people want to be straight are half-true, in my opinion. LGBT want to be treated as equal, and for the longest time, in order to be treated as an equal, you had to behave in what I've come to know as "homonormative" ways (i.e. in the closet). So there might be a longing to be accepted, or to "feel normal" about their sexuality, but I doubt that it really manifests as wanting to actually be straight.

Re: ‘Ender’s Game’ author Orson Scott Card welcomes attacks on his homophobic beliefs because ‘my sales go up’

Wow, I'm not supporter of Card's views on LGBT issues, but you just proved him right about character assassination.

Re: Top Weiner Aide Trashes Intern Who Wrote Campaign Tell-All

Why do I get the feeling this was meant to teach the ex-intern how to properly undertake a character assassination?

Re: Inhofe: Oklahoma Disaster Relief Will Be Different Than ‘Slush Fund’ For Sandy

Do senators understand the difference between hurricanes and tornadoes?

Re: Here’s What’s Wrong with Iron Man 3

Yo, it's not the Open The Happy channel, it's Open The Whup-Ass!

I found I didn't enjoy IM3 as much as The Avengers. I won't be missing it next year!

As an owner of the Sony NEX-FS700, I watched NAB closely with other FS700 owners, and we weren't disappointed. Still not tons of detail on the 4K upgrade for my Sony, but Convergent and their new Odyssey 7Q OLED monitor/recorder looks great and is on my radar for 2013.

I'm glad to hear that SFSDF is going to finally cut loose from FCP7 and move to Adobe. I'm betting that the transition will go faster and smoother than you might think. Premiere Pro is straightforward enough (and I use the FCP7 keyboard layout, which you can set in Premiere Pro) and flexible enough that it's likely to become a favorite around there, especially when time comes to work on DSLR footage natively without all the transcode headaches.

Nice summary! Comments are the lifeblood of any blog/podcast, and I appreciate any feedback we get.

I believe "predatory" in the way that Paul described it was more akin to the "predatory lending" that banks and mortgage brokers were doing on those folks who were unable to get the time of day from anyone else.

I would consider what VinTank is doing with "Deals from the Vines" as customer acquisition for VinTank, since they are giving away a service to wineries (i.e. possible prospective clients) in exchange for marketplace goodwill and reputation that will lead to paying clients coming to VinTank for their consulting services. The key however is that at no time do they advertise explicitly their services.

And as generous as our sponsors are, for what WBR takes in from sponsorships, I hardly qualify as a capitalist. Yes, not everything is about profit, but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with making a comfortable living. I believe the real art lies in striking the balance between avarice and altruism.

Re: Intel takes the wraps off its “Nvidia killer”

There's only one mention (last name only) of someone named "Knupffer" in the next-to-last paragraph. I think that Chris offers the first real criticism of the approach.

My biggest reservation is what Chris describes as '[seeing] the badge “Legit Juice” next to the badge “AwesomeWK” on a wine shelf talker or online wine description'. That is, the practical application of badges in an environment where people actually buy wine.

Perhaps this is my lack of knowledge of the overall plan by Vintank to encourage the use of badges at wine retailers and tasting rooms, but I still see the notion of a cadre of online wine personalities issuing badges that match what appears to be an arbitrary set of wine attributes as no less elitist and derivative as Robert Parker issuing a numeric score. And if the issuance of badges for wines *isn't* elitist, then what do retailers do with wines that not only garner numeric scores from the big critics, but a handful or more of individual badges from less-well-known online wine reviewers? It just seems that the signal-to-noise ratio drops precipitously in that circumstance, to where consumers are not empowered or informed, but rather more confused than ever, to the point that they walk over and grab a six-pack of craft beer instead.

Make no mistake: I want desperately to believe in the appeal of this badge initiative, but the arguments in favor haven't been terribly compelling.

Re: Cork’d Video: The “American Dream” of Maritas Vineyard hits close to home for Gary Vaynerchuk

The audio is killing me.
