But if the goal is to eat like early humans did, they did include meat in their diet, so...

But if the goal is to find the optimal diet for humans (like if they were in an alien zoo), then there might be a vegetarian alternative.

Re: iPad: A Padded iPod Touch?

I think that if the iPad had come out a few years ago and the iPhone were just being introduced this week, it would be touted as "A revolutionary new device that has all of the power of the iPad but in a compact, easy to carry form! Plus, it's a phone!!"

Re: Consequences

So when she says that her marriage will "mean something different" and it will change the way her marriage is viewed by others, she's saying that it will be something worse than what it currently is. I mean, if someone did something to marriage to make it viewed as something better, I'm sure she wouldn't object to that. But in her mind, allowing same sex marriage would *lessen* other people's opinion of her marriage, not just make it "different".

So even if she herself is fine with homosexuality, it sounds like her concern is that people that are not fine with it will start to look at the institution of marriage as something less than it currently is today. She is concerned about what those people would think of her marriage and how they would treat her.

It's all pretty abstract, though. I'd love to hear some concrete examples of how a heterosexual couple's social status might change. Would they get invited to fewer parties? Would they have to pay more taxes? Would they be excluded from joining clubs?

And I would say that if she can't come up with any likely examples, then she should reconsider her position. On one hand there is a class of adult US citizens that feel they are being denied fundamental rights. On the other hand there is a vague concern that there might be some negative repercussions, but no one can come up with what those might be. Hmm... which side should be given the benefit of the doubt here?

Re: How to Meet Your Older Self

You've been listening to "Clonefucker" too much.

Re: Fear the Silence

Excellent. Although, I do have a pretty good horror sounds CD AND the soundtracks from "Halloween" and "Rosemary's Baby". I listen to these all year round, though.

Re: How to Meet Your Older Self

I love "Primer"! It's so convoluted.

I'm still working on the flux capacitor. I hope it will work in my Hyundai Elantra.

Re: Cigarette Pollution

I did a volunteer service at the beach where we picked up trash. By far the most common piece of trash on the beach was cigarette butts. It was like I was walking in a giant ash tray.

Re: To dream, love and laugh ...

I can smell him from here.

Re: To dream, love and laugh ...

Did that bug you?
