Doesn't seem like this complies with the letter, let alone the spirit of what the EU CMA requires.

True sidelining should be completely out of Apple's control, as has always been the case for Android.

Hoping when this comes out it forces Oura to lower prices. Maybe increase the price of the rings by $50 but eliminate the subscription cost.

I'm not going to start caring about RCS until Google opens it up so any 3rd party messaging client can implement it.

Until that happens RCS is effectively Google's proprietary protocol.

I've been playing Pokemon Go since about 2 weeks after the game launched. Still a daily semi-casual player.

IMO Pokemon Go is a success primarily because the Pokemon IP is so strong.

Niantic makes decisions that are very unpopular with the player base with some regularity.

Pokemon Go is a success despite Niantic, not because of it.

Love the reparability aspect but 4GB of RAM + HMD firmware means that every app will surely be killed the moment it goes to the background.

My last (and only) Nokia phone was so bad I stopped using it after just a few months because I couldn't handle having to restart Pokémon Go several dozen times every day to the tune of 30-45 second every time.

I loathe Facebook and refuse to use any of their products (I even abandoned a fairly active Instagram account) but they are absolutely in the right here.

News sites always had the ability to prevent crawlers from indexing their sites, they didn't because it benefitted them to be seen by FBs users.

Instead they lobbied the Canadian government to try to force FB (& Google) to pay them for linking to them.

The news organizations wanted FB and Google to funnel traffic to their sites, sites that are laden with obnoxious ads or paywalled up the wazoo (sometimes both) AND they wanted to be paid for it as well.

Instead they will have neither and it's well deserved.

This has been my daily driver since December. It's my first phone I've paid over $350 for since 2018 and my first Samsung since my trusty Galaxy SIV.

Feel like you guys are really not leaning into the once common features this phone has that are all but unheard of in this day and age.

For someone like me who keeps their phone a long time having a user-replaceable battery is huge, it means when my battery starts to wear out I can just replace it in a few minutes.

Also it has a dedicated fingerprint reader, which means it actually works, not quite as well as a fingerprint sensor on the back on the chin would but it works so much better than the under-screen ones do.

And of course it still has an SD card slot, and a headphone jack, and it does all of this while maintaining an IP68 rating.

I bought my TV at Costco so I didn't have that many choices. Every TV they had in that size range was some kind of "smart" TV.

California resident here, since we added fines for blocking a marked EV charging spot the problem of ICEing has gotten WAY better.

Still have a problem (especially at malls where charging spots are stupidly placed close to the entrance) with EVs and PHEVs simply plugging in and being left there for hours but at least we don't always have ICEVs taking up spots.

Was that mastodon.social? That's the largest and most well known "general purpose" Mastodon server that happens to be run by the non-profit that maintains the Mastodon open source project.

My own account is on an entirely different "general purpose" server and some of the people I follow are on servers like socialism.social (bunch of lefty types) or infosec.exchange (Information Security Professionals) or things like that.

Mastodon isn't even a service it's a platform. There are MANY (probably thousands) of different Mastodon servers out there that have nothing to do with each other besides running the Mastodon software and (usually) federating to allow cross-server communication.

I have no doubt that some right wing grifters have created their own Mastodon instance(s) where they can spread their BS but there are also (actual) Socialist Mastodon servers as well as independently run servers for any number of communities.
