(LOL) But, I know what I'm supposing a man to be: something of which I don't see a whole lot of these days.

A man (in my opinion) is one who marries the woman who bears his children. A man is someone who stays around when the going gets rough; not sky up at the first sign of trouble. A man works hard to support his family: taking a second job if necessary so his family will not need for anything. Most of all, a man puts his needs/wants beneath that of his family. A hard concept for the males of today to comprehend. There's been too many generations of males being created: not men.

Re: From Boys To Men: Challenging the Notion that a Woman Cannot Raise a Boy to Become a Man

You probably know my answer to this question. How can a person who is not a man teach a boy to be a man? It's impossible. A male has characteristics which are not inherant in females, and vice versa. Subtleties which are not always readily visible lie beneath the surface. Things that only a male can pass on to another male. Not saying that a woman couldn't raise a boy to manhood, but there will always be a part missing that a male didn't impart upon the boy.

I know it is not always possible to have a male counterpart of the family unit, but I do think male imprinting is crucial to a boy: a bonding of some sort with another male. This goes with females, too! Both male and female influences need to be present for a well-rounded man/woman, but it is imparative that both sexes have a like-sexed person involved in their development.

Re: http://www.rippdemup.com/2010/02/lets-all-go-to-compton-cook-out-bring.html

Leave it to you to put a new spin on ignorance! (lol)

Mattel did a great job in creating their line of African American dolls. We were all on another site together, and folks started floating over to Twitter. Hey, none of us are saints, and presenting ourselves as such is false advertising. The first thing I think about nowadays when someone tries to be pious is that they've GOT to be hiding something! Just keep in the back of your mind that everyone has a little something under the surface, grime no less, and you can't go wrong!

But sitting in church basically confessing they've done wrong, and then justifying it, too??
