I think you did a great job of explaining Piper's preferential mentality.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I think the other motivation behind his post was his Calvinistic theology and the belief in an ultra-sovereign, omnipotent God, who has the "power" to do whatever "He" wants to do.  Of course, God already knew that the Lutherans would consider ordaining gays in 2009 and He had been planning the storm since the beginning of time.  Right?  God enforces 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 by not only refusing gays entry into the Kingdom of God, but also He tries to send a message through destruction.
