The dismissal out of hand of science is breathtaking in it's shortsightedness. Science does get things wrong from time to time, but to completely stick your head in the sand and deny the mountains of evidence that climate change is real, accelerated by mankind and our industrial pollution, and will affect us in the near future is absurd. Even the Department of Defense accepts this reality - they are making plans TODAY to move Norfolk Naval Base due to the assured rise in sea levels. Whether it is one foot, two feet, or ten feet it WILL rise - the only debate or room for doubt is how much and how fast.

Ethical concerns regarding breeding an animal seem rather bizarre, akin to the arguments against eliminating the pit bull (seen by dog nuts as genocide). A breed is simply an artificial, usually man-made, variant of an already heavily modified creature. Dogs and cats would not look as they did without man's heavy influence. Munchkin cats, while odd, are no different than an Akita or a Maine Coon. Bigger issues people.

As a relatively new resident to the area (been here 12 years) I have grown to appreciate Wawa for what it is...a ubiquitous convenience store that sells mediocre sandwiches, has mediocre coffee, and a cult-like following. I remember a girl I hooked up with in college in the early 90's who had a Wawa mug she treasured like a holy relic...I attempted to use it one day and was thoroughly thrashed and told to not ever touch her Wawa.
I don't get it. You can get a much better sandwich at literally hundreds of places yet people will line up for a Wawa hoagie? Another mystery of being a foreigner (Upstate NY) in Philadelphia.

I won't comment upon the ignorance of virtually every submission here. What I will comment upon is the nature of the events in Manayunk, which was family friendly, well attended, a great deal of fun for all concerned, & a boost to Main Street Manayunk. There can be no doubt that much of the mummers tradition is simply drunken revelry, and if it was just that it would be fine and easily ignored. The actions of a few racist, homophobic, or just ignorant few stain the majority. The obvious solution is to end the comics and simply have the string bands be the sole group that is identified as Mummers. The string bands performed with professionalism and class and I hope they continue to visit Manayunk every year.

The Dewey Decimal System number for Ethics is 170, with 176 being for sexual ethics. You'd think he would have known better. Not the first instance of someone in power abusing that power.

The first thing I thought of is that the one dollar bill should be discontinued and replaced completely by coins. They last longer, and I am sure that the dollar bill wears out fastest. Does anyone know the cost differential and expected life of a dollar coin?

There are better stouts, but this is the gold standard, and as it is massively produced the fact that it is so damn good is really quite stunning. 8/10 is my rating (the only better stouts are micro- or craft-brews).
