And not to derail this thread but there are too many issues conflated in the previous person's comment and all sorts of assumptions that may not be true. Most level headed progressives understand how much Obama put his hands on the scales to deny Bernie a shot at the presidency. And I believe the progressive analysts who very clearly attribute that to Obama's obsessive quest to protect his dubious legacy.. knowing that he simply colored around the edges a bit, a corporate incrementalist. He didn't legitimately fear a Bernie Sanders win on the pros and cons of a progressive agenda. But rather he knew that a single year of a Sanders administration would have forever tarnished Obama's minimalist agenda and legacy.

Lastly, as many people have noted for years now, the post presidency Obama's are multi-millionaires and their allegiance is to that class. Exactly like Ellen DeGeneres.

My second comment on the 2004 Iowa Caucuses: What a sham. Speaking as someone who attended one of the caucuses that night at a Church near Drake University, I was stunned by how utterly chaotic and disorganized this actual caucus was. It's a total Barnum & Bailey circus show where Candidate leaders bring huge tall flags mounted in buckets of concrete and cowbells and signs to designate each candidate's area to "determine viability".

I watched & photographed in shock from a balcony vantage point in despair as I saw from the get-go that the Dean precinct team had no training at all. But the loser John Kerry's team had all the know-how and process-knowledge, like hawkers at a state fair auction, they corralled and cajolled "the audience" (aka voters) to "Over here!" — a total popularity contest based on noise and the impression of high enthusiasm.

Joe Trippi hadn't bothered to train the Dean precinct leaders in the mechanics of how this stupid arcane sham actually operated. That was my first sign that poll-leader Dean might not have the outcomes we had all expected. But Trippi still makes great cha-ching as somehow the Dalai Lama of all things "progressive campaigning". But I digress....

Thank god there are people with intact memories in this day & age of 24-hour social media cycles. Bruce you have it exactly right. I was there at the Val-Aire Ballroom. I'm not sure re RickBarzanti's comment "Specifically Wolf Blitzer..." but I am not disputing it— because like all of the Dean contingent who'd collected in Des Moines Iowa that March 21st night from states all across the nation, in culmination of the unprecedented grassroots "Iowa Storm" door-to-door canvassing initiative, no one was monitoring TV channels, we heard it live and of course it had no weirdness of any kind. Just as you say, Bruce, Dean had to shout so loudy to be heard through the public address system with all the throngs of cheering fans. And we know that the whole cardioid mic explanation somehow couldn't be made that night by ABC News. It took Diane Sawyer 2 weeks before they ran their Good Morning America segment that explained to the TV audience why the "scream" played the way it did on TV...

The other note I'll add to your excellent account is that there was a fundamental reason why the NETWORKS POUNCED on this random thing that they manufactured into instant-analysis that he was "mentally ill" and "unfit to be President": Scream-schmeme, even the fact that he spoke loudly as heard on TV, What in the actual F was behind their LABELING it as "mentally ill"— other than pure character assasination. We know: He was at that time the most progressive, refreshing candidate Dems had seen for years, who'd rapidly risen to the top of the pack in polling, so he needed to be taken out. What many have no memory of because it was pre-Youtube/ Social Media era, is Dean had made, as part of his platform, that he was placing a big fat target on "Media Consolidation" and had vowed as President he would break up the media consortiums that arose in the wake of Reagan-era relaxing of anti-trust rules of media ownership. Thus, there was strong motive for why Dean should be taken out, by any means possible— and it just so happened he supplied them with just the kind of opportunity they'd need to inject malice and assasinate his character, from some trivial lack of media training.

After hearing the concession speech by Dean at the Val-Aire ballroom, most of us headed to Kerry's victory party at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, where all those asshat Cable Hosts were congregated, particularly Chris Matthews. It was there that one of my fellow SF4Dean progressives overheard Matthews chattering up some his fawning crowd "Gee, it's such a shame what happened with Dean's concession speech, a real catastrophe" — and she, like any of us who hadn't watched the events on TV — stepped up to ask him "What are you talking about?" because we'd seen nothing other than a thunderous welcome and hundreds if not thousands of adoring fans. That was our first clue that something was off, but because the next day Tues the Des Moines airport was shutdown due to snow storms, none of us had gotten back to our homes til Wed, at which time I was still clueless that there had been any kind of media event that was trending Dean down. When I got home late Wed and played a string of voicemails to "check CNN.com" I saw this horrific monster that had been manufactured and branded the Dean Scream. So sickening. ... Later, the exit polling in New Hampshire, where Dean was also expected to win, asked voters "was the Dean Scream a factor in your vote?". Many had said yes... That crashed his campaign for good.

2019 — Thanks! These instructions worked for me, the sound portion of the video was fine. Had no idea this capability was in VLC since it's counter-intuitive, not being displayed as an EDIT function. But once I now understand that "playback + Record" = creating a copy of the original, it's a tool I'll be using more of. I normally use Quicktime Pro 7.6.x for editing clips, but sometimes I run into problems with the edited section savong to disk properly. I can now try this in VLC, the down side being that if you have a video that runs 60 minutes or so, it has to record a copy in real time, waiting 60 minutes. What I actually wanted to do was loop some white noise (waterfall sound/video) to play for multiple hours, and I guess I can select the "loop" option in Playback preferences for that, will try it.

This may be true in theory, but where the rubber meets the road, when people, me in particular for this post, have problems with Commander One connectivity, whether with my Samsung Galaxy phone or my Google Pixel phone, Eltima support is amongst the slowest on the planet. By the time they get back to you maybe 3 days later, you are long past the window of time when you needed help the most. In my experience with USB connectivity to mobile devices over the past 10+ years, the people who want USB connectivity vs all the B.S. Airdroid and other much slower wifi methods, usually have large video and other media files they want to get off their device and onto their Macs for editing. I too bought Commander One maybe 3-4 years ago, and when it works, it is wonderful. However, it is, in my experience, as persnickety as Android File Transfer when it comes to establishing a connection to your phone. You go through all ther same exasperating BS you had to do with AFT, unplugging ther cable, quitting the Mac application, restarying the Mac application, re-inserting the USB cable, then finsing yert again there is no connectivity to the phone device. Then you go to all the debugging on your phone, with developer options and USB debugging, then tapping your notification shade for USB options, then even though it shows "File Transfer", it still does not connect to Commander One, so you go through easily an hour of toggling the USB options in phone to Photo transfer or Charging, then you quit commander one, then start it up again, then toggle the USB options oin your phine back to FILE TRANSFER, then you pray that Commander One witll finally make a connection, but no. So now you juggle about 10 variables, unplugging, replugging, quitting CommOne, restarting CommanderOne, then having to finaLLY BITE THE BULLET and RESTART your phone, andf or RESTART your Mac, all for this genius Commander One software to finally establush a connection. By this time you are so angry that when you seek to acquire tech support from Eltima, waiting anither 72 hours is unbearable.

They will then treat you like an idiot child, they won't read the narrative of wverything you've tried, instead they will link to FAQs on their site, or they will tell you "you don';t have the MTP extension selected on the Mac App in preferences, even though you explicitly told them in your first email and included a screenshot that indeed MTP extension IS checkmarked in C.O. prefrs.

My point is not to rag on Eltima One per se, but to say that there is a big difference between their THEORETICAL helpfulness and the actual help you get, 3 days later if you're lucky.

The bottom line is, if this were 100% foolproof and "just woirks" like Mac Software is supposed to do, I would sing its praises to high heaven. But you're lucky if it works 50% of the time without all the cumbersome troubleshooiting I have described herein.

So I am countering your lovely post about how "we are always ready to assist you with the problem you've faced and perform the necessary fixes if needed" ... If you are happy with good software — and CommanderOne is goodf software — that reliably works only 50 % of the time, and you have the patience of a saint to put up with the other 50% of the time, then by all means buy Commander One pro pack. But for those expecting a bulletproof "finally! software that just works!" replacement for the abysmal Android File Transfer, COmmanderOne is very unreliable, no matter what someone from Support writes underneath this post.

Not really; she was rolling her eyes the whole time annoyed with Delaney's resistance to fact arguments of her colleague Velshi. Then she pulled a bit of Mika Brez at end with the figleaf of "ok, let me try to give you your last moment of cable news airtime lest we be falsely called out as shutting down someone who's on the fringe." That said, I don't recall Ruhle giving Tulsi Gabbard the benefit of the doubt, and really just smeared her.
