Last week I did an attempted Windows 10 to a USB drive. (My PC already had Windows 10 on it) . I was surprised it didn't offer me an install to the USB so I could take the drive to my friend's house to start the install.
Good thing I had a previous Windows 10 1909 on a USB stick.

So there is no way that a RISC CPU can be faster that the CISC when both are running at the same Clock speed.

But the M1 is a RISC device and therefore it is going to be slower than a Intel CISC chip. The ARM does 1 operation per cycle where as the CISC Intel chips vary from 3 to 25 cycles per operation.

Keybindings are broken too. It refuses to recognise the right Ctrl/Shift keys for those of us who are left-handed.... :(

Then you don't understand how computers work. It is entirely possible to have file correction without CHKDSK (it just detects indexing) alerting you to it. Try a SMART detecting program.
The fact that SFC and DISM don't work for you should be a major worry.

There you go. You've got bigger problems due to underlining OS issues.
I'd examine your storage devices SMART system. Bet the drive is faulty.
Try running HD Sentinel on it.
