Dad tried to see very troubled son and very troubled son rejected him so he gets to give up because he's an 'adult'? I think it's been established he actually wasn't a remotely capable adult despite being over 18 years. Meanwhile, the mother who dedicated her life to him is criticized for trying to handle it alone as if she didn't go through every avenue to figure out what was wrong and how to help. Everyone's been investigating what Nancy did and didn't do with barely any critical investigation of how his father's disappearance from his life way before he was a legal adult influenced his development. The expectations we have of mothers and fathers is incredibly different and it's a problem.

Would men really just avoid fields hiring because they're stereotypically feminine? Not wanting to spend money and time going to school I completely understand (and who knows if those jobs will be there once they're done) but the whole 'too girly' thing seems odd.

We can't keep relying on stimulus packages while ignoring the fact that our businesses outsource their manufacturing to countries with little to no labor protection laws. The tax cuts we have given them over the years have not prevented this and haven't given us jobs, they will continue to cut costs because that's what a business does. Stop coddling them, accept the way they work and readjust for the people here.

In fact, I believe it's sexual harassment but as I said, I included the caveat because of law. But I'm curious, did you bring up his sexual harassment in other threads about this issue before this? If you did, point me to it so I can have a higher opinion of your concern over my apparent lack of regard towards sexual harassment. Otherwise I'll ignore the accusations that I accept it. Aside from that, there's the issue of privacy which has been the major topic here. His online liasons are just that, private. His relationship with his wife (and baby?) is just that as well, private. What these things have to do with health care or conflict of interest judges or gay marriage I don't know. Perhaps I need to go to a nunnery to learn moral shaming.

What are you talking about? My position is that speculating about her emotions on her family's future is just that, speculation. Anyone could be right about what's she feeling but no one knows but her and those close to her. I'm not sure how much clearer I can make this but go ahead and assume your interpretation of this incredibly personal drama is more right.

Thanks for highlighting this. I've been on liberal websites all over the place trying to reason with otherwise intelligent people who can't accept that unsolicited sexual pictures is not only creepy but harassing. A national leader especially should know not to do this to a woman in college, a place full of young men who feel entitled to an audience for their ego and sexual wants. And it's even more aggravating to have Dems and Reps lined up to call for his resignation for simply having online relationships. No that is not a reason for him to resign, but there is a completely valid one and they are either ignoring it or simply can't see it. I'm not sure which one is worse.

Of course it was self-serving, it was a speech to get out the embarrassing facts before they were uncovered and twisted by Breitbart (a liar creepy enough to hijack that very press conference) and to stop speculation that him and his wife were splitting or that he was thinking of resigning.

And of course it's wild speculation to imagine her emotions about her future with this man all while carrying his child, which is at this point a rumor from unidentified 'friends'. How is it not? No one has any idea what she thinks about her family's future. One's free to do this of course, but it's nothing more than dime-store psychology based on very little fact.

Your definition of misogynistic is rather flawed in my opinion, is a woman cheating on another woman misogynistic behavior? If so, is it misandry when a woman cheats on a man? And I think it's rather disingenuous to imply that I'm not concerned with the sexual harassment aspect of his behavior, considering I was the one that brought it up for discussion. I said 'borders on' because legally, this behavior isn't considered sexual harassment in some, if not most, jurisdictions.

In regard to his speech, it could be that's the go-to message disgraced politicians have rolled out since forever. I don't care to infer feelings from that kind of self-serving speech. The point is, she herself hasn't said anything about her happiness or home life or pregnancy and it's really silly of anyone else to speculate. And if he were rightwing I would also refrain from wild speculation about something that wasn't my business. I advocate not being nosy and presumptuous about a family I don't know. And I don't mind if my words lessen his actions to a man and his computer liasons because that's what facts warrant, not what's going on between him and his wife.

I disagree with the premise that private lives between two individuals reflects an ability to legislate so far as it isn't abusive. And his actions discussed here and elsewhere aren't the least bit misogynistic* nor are they parallel to the sexism in radical 60's movements. I don't know how one could make that connection.

*Of course, what should be discussed is the fact that if he knowingly sent his picture to a woman who didn't ask for it, that borders on sexual harassment but everyone is just talking about his consensual relationships.

This really doesn't have to do with anything. We have no idea if she feels cheated on and frankly, unless she comes out and seeks attention for all this, it's nothing to do with us or politics. Do we really need to be calling attention to her very personal moments and speculating about whether she's struggling with having a family with him? Would it be so hard to imagine she's just happy to be expecting a child with her husband?

What's the real story is that Brietbart is going around with a picture of Anthony Weiner's penis on his phone, showing it to anyone he feels like showing it to. That's what shitty immature exes do to shame whoever broke up with them and what many people believe should be punishable by law. And bullshit on him not knowing it'd be leaked. The censored picture clearly shows someone was operating a camera towards the phone with nothing but a partial thumb blocking the view. Even if he weren't an accomplished liar, he should be called out all over the place for this behavior.

In the entire field of medicine you don't think any procedure could cost $300? If you're genuinely interested, which I'm guessing you're not, $300 is the low end for an early abortion of an embyro because it is rather simple. Go to your local Wikipedia to learn more about it.

Your facts are fundamentally wrong. It's not Planned Parenthood who pays for the abortions, it's the women. So if you're going to vilify anyone for using the transitive powers of taxes and finances that exist in every single aspect of life, it's the individual women you need to target. Women get covered by Medicaid to cover things like pelvic exams and cancer screenings and other reproductive health resources when they go to Planned Parenthood, men do too but it's mostly women who go to these clinics. If you go to their website you will find out that they tell you it will cost at least $300 out of pocket for an abortion there. The most your argument is is that because low income women don't have to pay for pelvic exams and preventative screenings for cancer via Medicaid, they will have more ability to pay for an abortion if they need one. I disagree with that defense ideologically but you could at least not be disingenuous, you simply want to restrict women's choices financially when it comes to reproductive health that is in any way associated with legal abortion.

Oh please, abortion is legal and Planned Parenthood isn't lying to its mom about funds. What you're saying is that women are using funds they have the ability from tax breaks/govt help to pay for abortions and that choice of theirs (which you transparently compare to drug use) to spend their money legally should be stopped. If your logic wasn't shoddy, that would mean a person in power could cut funding to any place or person that provides anything they personally find objectionable despite it being legal.
