How do you mention Henry Miller - who never wrote a published diary - and not Anaïs Nin? Who wrote 7 epic journals! Seems like an odd omission.

It's like trying to take a sip of water from an oncoming tsunami. I try to use google reader as a way to break up and parse the information. Even that is futile when left alone for a few days and you come back to see a zillion updates and unread items. If you've come up with a methodology please let me in on it.

It would had been nice to have seen the lion leave you a little flesh wound perhaps on your calf. Nonetheless, this was truly riveting to read. Sometimes I have to go after small-game, like a prairie mouse, even gnaw on the hoof of a rotting carcass for sustenance. Latching my claws on the hind quarters of a zebra is always cause for celebration and glee. Sometimes a reward like an ipad can be the result of such a catch, but not before much persuasion from my lioness.

Park rangers are periodically mauled by leopards starving for adventure. The ranger ought to watch his step.

I agree with you about the content. I think it's clear that the ipad is going to be a publishing bonanza for magazines. Magazines like Wired, The Economist, Time, and more will do very well with standalone apps that allow for in app purchases. It's beens said that for us, the consumer, the interaction we'll have with magazines and books will be awesome.

As for your request for the NYRB to put out an ipad app is really rather elementary. I'm certain an assertive ad hoc meeting in the mens room with the NYRB bespectacled editor at 435 Hudson Street will more than do the trick. Tragos, I'm certain of it I tell you!

I have two slight concerns.

1. The ipad seems like like it will shatter or crumple if you drop it.

2. It weighs a pound. Do you think that's too heavy if you're reading for than an hour? I mean a pound is not heavy, but it may be after a while if you holding it with one hand. Am I being a wuss?

That said, neither reason will keep me from picking it up.

I'm already aiming to bag a few gazelles in March to have it by late April.

Chris, you're a noble and kind soul. This short passage was very difficult to write. I thought it would be rather simple to be honest, but then a torrent of emotions came over me. We'll see. I'll try to keep it going as a sort of therapy via writing and a serial of sorts.
