While I don't agree with her, Hathaway is at least making more sense than some of the other so-called celebs who are calling for sex boycotts and other stupid things.

That said, the idea that banning abortion is a man thing is simply not true. The governor of the state of Alabama is a woman and she was the most important politician in the process because she signed the bill into law!

I think some people don't realize that this is much more of a long shot than this article suggests. Even if the Dems recapture the trifecta of power next year (unlikely), their potential majority in the Senate would be well below the 60 votes required to kill a filibuster which Republicans would no doubt stage in the face of this. This means the Dems would have to kill the legislative filibuster in order to get this passed which is unlikely given the opinions of many Senate Dems.

The thing about all this is that President Trump is being honest of how he really feels about McCain and that's refreshing in this politically correct world. He doesn't just cite the meaningless platitudes that politicians on both sides of the aisle have. I'm sure that many Republicans and Dems said McCain was a great war hero when they really didn't feel that way. Trump isn't saying a bunch of nonsense. But I agree that he should let this go now.

I can see why you call yourself a nut. You clearly don't realize that many if not most Republicans don't see McCain the way you portrayed him and they certainly don't see Donald Trump the way you described him. I won't go into it now, but John McCain was no saint or hero in my book. Just because he was a POW for 5.5 years doesn't make him immune to criticism for being the irascible, jealous narcissist that he was.

President Trump is an unusual person, as we all know. I think he's mainly ticked off that McCain upended the Obamacare repeal effort. I don't think he's obsessing about him but rather just bugged. The truth is 20 or 50 years from now when we look back on this era, we'll be talking about Donald Trump - not John McCain. You can be as big as you want in the Senate but I'll bet within 10 or 20 years most Americans won't have any idea who McCain was.

Meghan McCain says Trump is jealous of her dad? It was actually the other way around, because McCain got rejected in his bid for the White House and resented that a man like Trump won. This is all such a silly sideshow anyway. Who cares.

This is one of the reasons why Schumer is still holds the unenviable job of Senate MINORITY Leader and actually sank deeper in the hole in the last election as the GOP defied history and picked up 2 seats in the Senate. This would be a more potent argument if it were a SCOTUS nominee, but it's a dumb argument for a circuit court judge because most people won't care or see a grave threat from Readler. I fully expect Readler to be confirmed next week.

I actually don't mind that Hawley grilled Rao. When you consider that Collins pressed and squeezed Kavanaugh to prove to herself he wouldn't overturn Roe (while GOP senators didn't press him at all), it doesn't hurt to have it coming from the other side rather than just a rubber stamp.

Joseph Bianco and Michael Park, both nominees to the Second Circuit were held over until next week, apparently (due to pointless Dem obstruction). Trump, Graham and McConnell certainly aren't playing games.

I heard some discussion that the Trump Administration was trying to liaise with Feinstein on California judges to the 9th Circuit. I hope the White House just steamrolls past anyone she wants on the courts after her horrific behavior during the Kavanaugh confirmation.

Have you looked at the polls that show who is the real leader of the GOP? Let me let you in on a little secret: it's not Mitt Romney. Anyone who thinks that Mitt Romney is some sort of a key GOP leader isn't paying attention to the modern Republican Party. The vast majority of Republicans prefer Trump to Romney. Saying that because he attacked Trump that somehow means something means you haven't been paying attention to the never-Trumpers resentment and irrelevance for the past 3 years. And judging by the harsh response most congressional Republicans gave him for his little attack op-ed should make that clear. Jeff Flake and Bob Corker were no GOP leaders, either.

The House is 54% Dem and the Senate is 53% GOP, essentially the same. Look it up - the president's party picking up ANY Senate seats in a mid-term election is very, very rare. A lot of people in the GOP were worried about losing the Senate and few expected that 4 Dem incumbents would go down - largely due to President Trump's relentless campaigning.

I still disagree that picking up 40 seats was a landslide - it's substantial but it still fell well short of both 1994 and 2010. Yes, the Dems picked up some governorships but they still hold fewer than the GOP does. A true landslide would have meant picking up more than they did.

I don't know what you mean about 'congressional majorities for Democrats in deep red states'? Do you mean legislative majorities? Yes, the Dems picked up a few legislative bodies but only six overall which was deemed disappointing.

All in all, the Dems had a decent night for 2018 but that is a very qualified statement. They had a good night in the House, a bad night in the Senate and a mixed night in the states.

I'm not resorting to name-calling. I'm saying Budowsky is an old fool because he is. A fool is defined as "a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person." And that's exactly what Budowsky is and has been for a long time.

As for your other comment, President Trump isn't failing and Mitt Romney is not a 'GOP leader' except you consider a failed presidential candidate a leader. He's not a leader anymore than John Kerry is. And your leap that Romney, who many in the GOP Senate rebuked, has given cover for the Amendment 25 is ... well, ridiculous.
