I asked Sean in the comments of his first post on this subject what specific suggestions he had for making the same point in a position manner. One of his suggestions which I liked was: "Remember the 'one of these things is not like the other' segment on Sesame Street? I’m no marketing person, but I can image a great video that highlighted TOMS as 'not like' the other three very effective approaches to call TOMS out and then focus most of the video on the effective approaches."

Re: If Young People Care about Social Justice They Should Stop Pursuing Work/Life Balance—OnlyUp

I believe that work/life balance is specific to the individual. You may have work/life balance spending most of your time working. Someone else may not. I'm like you right now--very little free time. I works for me now, but I'm starting to look forward to slowing it down soon.

Re: Young people, social media, and the changing relationship between foundations and the nonprofits they support—OnlyUp

I have been wondering whether nonprofits could reduce the costs associated with grant funding by connecting directly with a large number of donors (each giving relatively small amounts) through social media. Not only do grant writing and data collection take time, but small nonprofits often end up "chasing" whatever trends are "hot" in the grantmaking community at that time and trying to fit their mission into that new trend. They may receive a large grant and deploy a lot of resources in that area, then just as suddenly lose the funding and have to lay off staff or scramble for additional funding.

Can increasing the number of individual donors (by connecting via social media, events, etc) change this dynamic for the better?

Re: Xenography: Being Published

I thought I would read your sequel over winter break but that didn't happen, along with 10,000 other things I thought I was going to get done over winter break. Sometimes you realize how much more succinct you could be but usually aren't. Probably like right now. For someone who cares about writing (even as infrequently as I really write), it's an interesting exercise.

I remember seeing something somewhere that woman are statistically more likely than men to have tweets that are at or very close to the 140 character limit, and there was the commentary that this could mean woman are usually more patient than men, or something like that.

Re: Juvenile song I completely forgot.

Brilliant! I highly recommend it, unless you're looking for beach time. It is a truly incredible city. It made me want to move there and I still kind of do. When I came back I typed up a travel log of sorts and sent it out to folks. I don't remember if you were one of them. If you'd like I can send (or re-send) it to you.

Re: As far as I'll go - Super Efficient Floating Wind Turbines

You will be receiving an invoice from me as well.

Re: If you ain't singin it's your own damn fault

Sorry, the link was bad.
