Especially since the DoD lets businesses use its seals without approval and with impunity. The allegation of implied endorsement is simply an excuse do discriminate against religion.

Re: Pentagon Forces Pastor Robert Jeffress’ Church to Remove Military Seals from Ad

Yes, I understand the difference. The themed car accessories are using the seals for profit which is expressly forbidden by DoD policy for its seals, so that use is even more egregious than letting a non-profit religious group use them. Allowing the seals to be used for profit by a commercial group but not for non-profit by a religious group violates equal protection and discriminates against religion.

Re: Pentagon Forces Pastor Robert Jeffress’ Church to Remove Military Seals from Ad

No, it doesn't depend. Church could have paid licensing fees too, but Pentagon didn't offer that to let them. That's anti-religious discrimination, letting their trademark be used by a secular group but not by a religious one.

Re: Pentagon Forces Pastor Robert Jeffress’ Church to Remove Military Seals from Ad

https://uploads.disquscdn.c... . Many of these kind of anecdotes have gone to trial or settled. And you are right. That behavior is (still) illegal so the university usually loses in the minority of instances when they get challenged.

Re: What I Learned about Atheists from God’s Not Dead

While all the thin Hollywood caricatures of devout Christians over the years are no excuse for distortion the other way, I think this author should be more introspective than defensive. While I can't testify to the authenticity of the character of the Chinese atheist, I can testify to the authenticity of some of the others. I recently met a professor at Colorado College here in Colorado Springs who actually told me that he sees it as his duty as a professor to try to get all of his students to see the stupidity of believing in God. Furthermore, I have occasionally personally faced the kind of ridicule dished out by the professor's colleagues against his girl friend. And I know an attorney who actually thinks the successful salesman with the line, "Always be closing," in the *Glengary Glen Ross* drama is a roll model. Furthermore, I have had a personal friendship with a girl who's parents tried to poison her for leaving Islam to become a Christian. The nonbelievers portrayed in the movie may not represent this author, but they are neither thin nor purely imaginary. And this author would do well to reflect on the impression some of his colleagues are making rather than assume they are all nice people like him.

Re: In New Mexico, A Stunning Ruling Against Religious Freedom

Since the courts are complicit in sacrificing free exercise on the altar of free expression for a new fad in sexual identity and relationships, perhaps offended businesses can capitalize on the free expression band wagon by advertising that they will donate a certain percentage of profits gained from facilitating same sex events to a ministry that helps GLBT people escape behavioral bondage to that identity and orientation.

Re: TRANSCRIPT: Megyn Kelly’s Interview With Father of Former Navy SEAL Killed in Libya Attack

I think President Obama chose inaction and to mix the video insulting Mohammed with his narrative on killing of his Ambassador for a deliberate and strategic purpose. I think he wants to discourage speech that offends Muslims and make offending Islam like using the "N" word. Since criticizing Mohammed equates to criticizing a government that represents him, discouraging speech that insults Islam also discourages speech that criticizes Muslim governments. That way he panders to emerging Arab leaders.

Re: Educating Children with Disabilities -- Navigating the Maze

It's really great that you are offering your legal expertise on special education and also on religious discrimination in Colorado Springs, Denver, Pueblo, and all throughout Colorado.

Re: Crowds Flock To See The New Movie, “2016: Obama’s America”

I can identify with Obama. The killing spree at Fort Hood along with most responses from secular and Muslim institutions underscore a thesis posted at http://www.atfp.org/articles/9 that violence done in the name of Islam is like alcoholism in a codependent dysfunctional family. Both systems feature excuses, denial, and enabling behaviors of people inside and outside of the systems. Neither justice nor excuses for violence done in the name of Islam are deterring it. Underlying enabling systems and attitudes must be addressed and changed. Nothing impacts alcoholics and their dysfunctional families like a reformed alcoholic, and nothing changes an alcoholic better than prayer. Similarly, no one can preach better against violence done in the name of Islam than a reformed terrorist, and nothing can change these deranged people better than prayer. Pray for the miracle of seemingly impossible changes in these desperate lives and their dysfunctional system.
