The effort by the city and the police to put a stop to this and possibly send a message seems pathetic. All these calls within minutes and hours of each other on a single afternoon/evening -- all apparently linked -- and no...nothing? Lame and aggravating.

I'm not sure why it seems to be verboten to mention the assailants' race or ethnicity in these reports. The police report includes it, right? Do we want the public to have a full description of a killer, or not? He was Hispanic, for the record.

Sorry to hear that. I'm hanging in here. Just bought and hoping, hoping, hoping that the new developments in Northeast from Union Market, Ivy City, Florida Ave, H Street etc., will bring some vitality and jobs and other things that help make neighborhoods more safe. I love living in the city and 99 percent (ok maybe 95 percent) of my neighbors are great people who would never jack someone for their cell phone with a gun. But yeah, people keep getting jacked and beaten and shot ...people with jobs and something to lose aren't going to want to live here anymore.

Completely concur, Hill resident. This has become a crime epidemic. Murders, robberies, assaults are happening on a daily basis. I do see more cops in the area, but it would be really great to see more cops on foot, or even better, on bikes. Lanier needs to get a handle on this situation fast or we will watch a lot of people's hard work at making H Street a vibrant place to live and play go right down the drain. People aren't going to come and spend money and invest in the neighborhood if they feel like their lives are in constant danger. I want to also say I really, really appreciate what Hill Now - and especially reporter Andrew Ramonas - is doing to keep us apprised of all the mayhem. Yeah, screw the alleys. Let's focus on basic public safety.

All of this unwarranted and gratuitous violence on the Hill and in the H Street area is making me rethink my opposition to concealed carry laws. It is out of control. DC Police are working hard - I see them arresting people and closing murder cases every day, but they just can't keep up with all the scumbag punks. Tragic and scary.
