I had an opportunity to buy one, used, in the early aughts, but it looked too bulky, and I heard tell of the power. Having not ridden in something like 12 years, I opted for the Marauder. It was the correct choice at the time, but this new 'busa has my attention.

Lovely, really lovely. In Miami, though, water, ants, and roaches would drive me batty. I'd love to see what someone comes up with for high(er) density, sustainable architecture for South Florida (assuming we're not under water in 20 or so years).

Has Art Basel/SOBEWFF/Boat Show had the same type or level of criminal behavior that UBW and Spring Break have had? Look at the types and numbers of arrests. Are you still saying the difference is mostly down to racial bias? I don't like the police state any more than anybody else does. In fact, those who know me know very well my extremely circumspect views on police and the imbalance of power, but very large groups of people tend to get out of hand if left to their own devices, especially when their intent is to "take over" a community.

The "Bottom line" here seems to be that you want to make the police presence during UBW about racism.

Just as beach communities have cracked down on unruly spring breakers in the past, Miami Beach has cracked down on UBW, and you have seen the results, smaller, more well-behaved crowds. I think this is less about racism than it is about the comfort of the community. Nota bene: I write "less". Sure, there is some racism. Would that we could stamp racism out, completely. We would live in a much better world. Was spring break crackdown, then, ageism? Have events like Art Basel, Food and Wine Festival been marred by violence, thus precipitating the same sort of police presence? Is this then about classism? What other "ism" cards can (must?) we throw on the table to have a truly open discussion about what happens on the Beach?

Despite what owners may say, there is only one reason to have those tag covers, to make their plates hard or impossible to read. If they're not already illegal, those tag covers should be.

Has Miami-Dade begun picking up cats? Last I heard, they do not pick up cats unless there is a specific clear and present danger. People have to drop them off at the shelter.
