Except things can be done to allow for both the survival of mom and baby. I have been a nurse in instances where we got the baby to 26 weeks so mom could have the surgery and treatment to treat a brain tumor. It is not always black and white. They can treat mom the best way they know how and do everything they can to save the baby too. Sometimes it does not work out that way and the baby does not make it, but that is not an abortion. The goal is always to save both.
