No Medicaid, no medicare for these folks...certainly reads as if they should have qualified. I live on oxygen 24/7 and my oxygen provider not only provides me with a concentrator (oxygen machine) but leaves me with an ample supply of portable tanks for travel and a huge tank for emergency situations such as these folks encountered. condolences to the family.

Cousin Herb, Sorry to read of your mom's passing. I remember her as a beautiful and vibrant woman. We've lost touch over the years and have much to catch up on if you should choose. Again Herb, my sincere condolences to you and yours.

Hey...I respect the police but try being on SS and not getting a COLA for the next two years. Now is the time to rise up and revolt abainst this crooked government we live under. Neither Republicans or Democrats will do the job...we need something new that really cares for the little guy and won't sell out.

If one is jogging to remain healthy...alongside a roadway seems a poor choice. All those monoxide fumes and God knows what else...not to mention drunk drivers or cell phone fools who think they are too important to go without communication for a few minutes. Joggers, if you do your jogging along roadways I suggest that you are perhaps into exibitionism. Go to your local high school track or some other, safer venue to do your jogging. Even running in place at home is safer than along a roadway. On to the obits.

If ever there was a real Plum Islander, it is Shirley Erhard. I remember years ago Shirley was an active member of the P.I. Mothers' Club, the P.I. Firefighters' Association Auxillary, the P.I. Town Study Committee and PITA. If it had anything to do with Plum Island, Shirley and her late husband, John, along with their kids, would be there taking part. So glad Ms Moore came along and found you Shirley. Great to read that you'll be alright in a day or two. Best wishes from Oklahoma.

Enough already with the fishing...if the Governor is
going to tax people for such stupid things then consider this: a tax on the obese for every pound they're over the average mean weight for their height. My God, you talk about a way to solve the obesity epidemic...get them in their pocketbooks where it counts and they'll start losing that extra weight and along the way be contributing to the Commonwealth. Leave the salt water fisherfolk alone!!!

I recently visited Andover on the occasion of my fiftieth high school reunion. From what I witnessed as one of my daughters drove me through a town I barely recognized...Andover needs a building moritorium before it evolves (devolves) into another

Tax the obese on every pound they're over the mean weight to height accepted A.M.A. standards and you won't need to raise property taxes. You'll be providing yet another reason for the obese not to eat so much. You'll have an excess of tax revenue to fund schools, police, fire and other departments. Of course, if your legislators are overweight, they won't want any part of this suggestion and I always get called nasty names by the overweighties who read this idea.
