Rocky is absolutely correct stating that the UNM football program will never get to the next level without the support of the community. I am an alum of UNM and now a Colorado resident, but I have truly been ashamed of the treatment and support Rocky has been given by the Albuquerque community.
Being a former high school football coach for many years I never had a doubt in Rocky's ability as a head coach. He is a "damn good football coach". Rocky always fielded a competitive team with talent that in most cases wasn't the caliber of the competition. He didn't allow his teams to quit and won many games with a slew of kids that were from New Mexico.
I have always supported the UNM Lobos in all sports and always will but it truly is a sad day when we allow somebody as talented and respected as Rocky Long leave. WAKE UP ALBUQUERQUE!!!
Paul Denver
