It was amazing - I made it for Valentines day this year. Big hit! There probably is a little more to it so let me know if you want the recipe - I'm a member on AoM!

Re: Brewer Family; (Oklahoma Family Photographer)

Great Pics! Ordering mashed potatoes and getting a baked potato is a mistake on the Chef's part which he would correct immediately; just as we would correct a mistake in our VO, such as a mispronunciation that we didn't catch. A slightly more accurate parallel would be to say that you go to the restaurant because you love their steak and potatoes which your order with no direction or clarification. The server brings you a steak and baked potato and you send it back saying, "sorry, that's not quite what I wanted - I would rather have mashed. Would you mind doing it again?" The server takes your plate but comes back to tell you the Chef says, "No, you should have been more specific, take it or leave it" or, "I would be glad to, but you should have given me clearer directions. I'm going to have to charge you again to make mashed potatoes as the baked potato is a waste of my time and resources."

Either way, it puts the situation in perspective and I agree with you totally - customer service and satisfaction is king!

Re: How Do You Reply To A Request For Retakes?

Great Post, Marc. I usually include a full retake or two (depending on the script length) in my quote/fee. I find that sets clients at ease. I've also found that most of the time you did it how they asked but then when they heard it they realized they wanted something different than they first thought. It's not really your read.

Re: Do You Post Your Voice Over Rates?

I don't have a rate card yet because I don't have a website to post it on and I've booked most of my work through P2P sites so the rate card really isn't necessary in those cases. When I start booking work directly through clients then I think a rate card would be necessary. Should probably get a website too. :)

Re: Superman and Catholic Spirituality

Awesome post

Re: Recorded video: abcd9772

Realized after I uploaded that I'm just a few cents short on the Baritone D4 but really don't want to ditch the whole take. It has me slightly concerned and I’m curious for feedback as I want to pass the first time.

I decided to go for the CFP last August and set a goal to have it by this August. That means the July exam. I’ve been working through and am in the estate planning course and am slightly ahead of my schedule and should have all coursework done by early to mid April. That’s where my concern comes in as this article says 4-6 months of review before sitting for the exam. I plan to take a review course, no question, but unless I start it before finishing the capstone course than 4-6 months clearly isn’t possible and so I would need to review more than 10 hours a week.

Considering I have 5+ years of industry experience, have been doing well on all the course work, have been and can continue to study 12-14 hours a week, and planning to review from April-June and test in July, is passing the first time feasible in that scenario? Or am I setting myself up for failure and should wait to test in November? I hate to do that as it’s just such a long gap but I really want to pass the first time.

A little wordy so thanks to anyone who read through and takes the time to respond.

Re: How To Study For (And Pass) The CFP Exam

Thanks for responding, Jesse!
