Siva, I'm really glad you posted this, because what you say is so true. Even though I'm on the edge of being an atheist and I don't really know if there is a god, this image immediately inspired feelings of disgust. And these feelings are almost stronger than when I see scripture posted on the side of a bus, or whatever. I think you're so right about the dialogue that needs to be created, but in my gut I can't accept the fact that someone can so easily denounce something so integral to so many people's belief systems, and yet how is it any different from saying that there really is a god? I need to think about it.

I remember reading this play for the first time (after seeing "My Fair Lady" a whole bunch of times) and falling in love with GBS because of the addendum. It's so scornful!

I was in this class and ironically enough, was assigned a part on the US prosecution team sent to justify Khadr's detention as an illegal combatant. From what I remember, our case was flimsy, at best, and I was shocked by how little evidence we had to work with. As a result, I've followed Khadr's story with considerable interest over the last few years, which has made me acutely aware of just how slowly the legal process works. With any luck, the Obama will put a quick end to all of this by shutting down the hypocritical atrocity that is Guantanamo.
